Good way to protect cheap bicycle wheels from rust? (Painting not an option)?
The only painting available to me is rattle can paint. This is not an option, because (I know from experience) over a short period of time, application of the brake will rub the paint off. Powder coating is too expensive, and I will never have a disc brake. Is there something I can spray on the wheels (besides paint) which will protect them from rust without adversely affecting braking, or damaging my brake pads? (I keep bike in garage when not in use, but I still have to worry about the humidity.)

Maybe buying a set of aluminum rim set. Rust... begone! Why do roadies shave their legs?
Cover the bike and obviously care for it. WD40 could help stop your breaks from destroying the wheeles while not damaging the breaks. If anything, it would be good for them.Unfortunately, there is not much you can do to these wheels. Has rust been a problem? Generally only the lower end of bicycles these days have steel rims. All others are going to be aluminum which will not rust at all.
