A question for runners-I have been biking (crosstraining will this make me a better runner?

I agree biking will build your legs up, but that doesn't make you a better runner. The muscles in you thighs increase but only to hold your knees straight. There are no muscles in your knees to build up. The strength for biking does not come from your legs, it comes from your back and your ***. I don't agree that more muscles in your legs help in running - compare marathon runners legs to bikers legs. The bikers look like bull frogs. Their thighs are huge. I guess that is good if you want to run 50 yard dashes. But moving the extra weight is not what you want in your legs to do any distance running.
It strengthens yours knees quite a bit, I'd say it would. I run.
Do you know how to ride a bike?
Yes, that will make you a better runner for this reason. When you crosstrain you are actually tearing your muscles. When your muscle heals it becomes bigger. If you do this daily your leg muscles will become much bigger which will help you to run fasterClothes for biking in colder weather?
I find that cycling does help my running. When biking, I get the cardio workout without taking a toll on my joints and it seems that the fluid motion of cycling gets the blood flowing and promotes healing. I definitely feel much fresher when I do both activities than I do if I just run. What is the difference between suspecison corrected and regular rigid forks for MTB bikes?
it should. cycling utilizes a lot of leg muscles so this will make your legs more prepared for running. dont push youself too hard at first though. have ridden my bike several hundred miles this summer, and now i do more running now that its the off-season. when i first started running, i would get serious cramps in my abs, i was almost immobilized. so start off slow, to get all the other undeveloped muscle going again. If I ride my bike 6 miles in 20 minutes what is my average speed in mph?
why dont you try running then to see if you really are agood runner now.Anybody have any info on the bike "dawg"? do they make road bikes?
Cycling will generally increase your fitness level but it won’t directly make you a faster runner. Running and cycling use slightly different muscles and they are different movements. Cycling is good for recovery if you are primarily a runner. If you want to be a faster runner you are just going to have to do running specific drills and run more. Cycling will give your body a chance to recover from a hard run workout so that should help you increase your running and make you a faster runner.More Questions & Answers...
