20 mile bike ride?
Question:how long do you think it would take a 14 year old boy in good shape to ride a bike 20 miles?
Answers:
Mountain Bikes - Haven't ridden in a long time.?
With a road bike, flat terrain and light wind, you could make it in 11/2 hour. Don't forget a repair kit and pump, a couple of coins and a snack.Under not optimal conditions, one could need much more time. Without training, I wouldn't let a 14 year old go 20 miles.
I just bought a knew bike but the back hand brake cable needs to be adjusted can some tell me how?
Depends on your average speed. Say you were averaging 10mph u'd do it in 2 hours. That totally depends on the terrain. Climbing? Cross-country? Technical? Open? Assuming it is some combination the above, you can likely average 10-15 miles per hour for the ride. So, 1.5 to 2 hours should be good.
This said, it could be 3+ if the ride is really technical or involves a long climb.
Just be sure to enjoy it!

Kudos on your determination! Just remember to bring about 5 bucks just in case.On my first ride to Tampa (38miles round trip), I never thought I would need money. I was counting on finding a drinking fountain. That went badly. I did bring $1 for a payphone, which happened to barely be enough for a Vault (new at the time), which made me sick. 24 miles from home, and vomiting is just about the scariest thing imaginable.
Moral of this story is to just BRING MONEY, and play it safe.
