$870 US was original 2002 price tag for Specialized Rockhopper A1 Comp bike.

Prices have come down somewhat over the last couple of years - or they've decided to put slightly less on the frame in the way of components.

If you were looking for one today (second-hand), I'd not be paying more than $200 ... about half the tag value on a 2006/2007 model.
