About how long to bike 10 miles in the city?
Question:how long do you think it'll take to bike 10 miles with a 21 speed mountain bike, an average rider going at whatever the average speed is, and in the city so theres gonna be some traffic.

About 10 miles.Okay, I'll quite picking on you. If you ride at a nice easy gait of 10 miles per hour, one hour, maybe a little more. You can ride in and out between the cars.
You can do it in about an hour... quicker if you use bike paths!

i ride to work in the city everyday and is is a touch over 10 miles. On my road bike it takes about 28 minutes and on my mtb about 32 minutes. An average speed of about 20 mph.
This should give you some idea, but only you know how fast you can go.
Be careful of traffic in the city - especially taxis!

i'm not sure how long it'll take you if there's no average speed.a mountain bike can go up to 40 mph (or above).

They really pick on you ... I do not know how strong cyclist you are , terrein you ride , shape of your bike , what tires you use , knobby tires in asphalt is slover , tires build for asphalt faster . OK I ride sometimes 24 speed good quality modified MTB , it have Continentals Town & Country tires geering 48 -11 , some hills and sometimes I have load in panniers about 12 kilograms and in city 10 miles I am able to cover under 50 minutes because lights . I am shure that on my touring Trek 520 even with 40 kilo load inside the panniers I will be little faster ... Have some fun betwen the legs ! Keep on cycling .I need to buy a cassette/sprocket/whatever for my bicycle, what should I look for?
With the traffic and stoplights it should take 45 minutes or so. A lot will depend on your cycling ability, wind speed and direction, contour of terrain, etc.The best thing to do is just ride the route on a weekend and see how long it takes you. Then maybe add a few minutes to allow for the weekday traffic.
