Should i trade halladay and paplebon for hafner?
it is a h2h league with standard yahoo scoring. I need hitting badly and i have a great pitching staff. Without those two pitchers, my top closers would be k-rod and chris ray, and my SP's would be Carpenter, Harang, Capuano.

Pitching doesn't matter as much as hitting in H2H leagues, so try trading Capuano and Papelbon for Hafner, you still do want at least two pitching studs (Halladay, Carpenter) offer him Harang too, see if he'll bite.You are giving up one of the best starters and one of the best closers. Absolutely not. Talk him down, try giving up Chris Ray and Halladay, or even Capuano and Papelbon. Travis Hafner is no spring chicken, and though he is going to be an excellent hitter his age might bring his numbers down slightly from last year.

hell no maybe just Halladay or just Pap but thats too one sidedi think youre giving a little too much. since papelbon is a closer again, i think his value went up since good closers are harder to get than starters. but hafner is an elite hitter so theres a good chance that youll have to unload either halladay or carpenter but you will have to add more to your deal to get hafner.
An ok trade according to your need, but you are definitely giving up too much to one single hitter, even though he is Hefner. You are talking about giving up 40 - 45 saves, and 18 - 23 wins, with low ERA and high strikeout rate. Pitching is really tough to get, compared to hitting, especially guys who you can depend on day in and day out. You can try to offer him back in Carpenter, Ray for Hefner, and another hitter. Then pick up another starter like Reyes, or Hensley or others. Good luck anyway.

NO. I personally think Chris Ray is going to go downhill (See Baseball Forecaster 2007) and if he does, you'll need a closer to back him up. Papelbon is a top 5 closer. Also, Capuano is a okay pitcher, not really that good (look at second half). You'll want to back him up with some other guy and halladay seems like the perfect fit. If you really Hafner, trade him Ray and some other pitcher but not Papelbon or Halladay.More Questions & Answers...
