Who to draft? Jose Reyes or Ryan Howard?

I would go with Reyes in a roto draft and Howard in a H2H draft. DO NOT get caught up in winning SBs, it is only one category. Furthermore, both Hanley Ramirez and Rafael Furcal (moving to lead off for LAD) provide lots of SBs with decent power in the SS position. Both of them will likely be around for pick 20.However. with Reyes in a roto league, you are almost guaranteed to not be at the bottom of the SB category (the key in roto is balance or at least not getting blown out in a category). In H2H, you can completely punt a category and not worry - you can win 9-1 every week. SBs or Saves are usually the easiest ones to punt. Remember in H2H, you only need to dominate 6 categories to win every match up.

Jose Reyes because stolen bases are harder to come by then homers(reyes will get around 15hrs and 60sb) besides take a look at the first basemens available that you could get in later rounds. You could take a paul konerko in like round 4 where he went in my draft and get 35hrs 300avg and 100rbi not to mention konerko strikes out less then howardREYES!!! QUICK!!! NOT HOWARD!!
NO DOUBT REYES!! He gets you many many many steals and good home runs to go with it. He also supports that with a solid average and good runs and rbis. It would be a stupid decision to not get reyes.

HowardRyan Howard's probably the best hitter in the entire draft. He's going to be 27 this year, which is generally the career year (28 is the 2nd most common year by the way). Were he to have a career year this year, he'd have a good chance at winning the Triple Crown and over 60 home runs. He does hit for a pretty high average well. Philly's offense is probably the best in the NL (their stars are relatively equal to any other team and their second-tier is slightly better), which provides plenty of RBI and run scoring chances. Howard has the best On-Base Percentage on his team, which means he's the best run scorer Philly has (though his runs scored are less than optimal because he bats cleanup, which optimizes his RBI).
Giving up the stolen bases is well worth your while because you get a better player in the other 4 categories. Howard's also more durable than Reyes (1st Basemen tend to get injured less than middle infielders for obvious reasons).
In the early rounds, it is preferable to draft the best available player. Also, tanking categories can be a good strategy, especially in Head to Head leagues. Head to Head leagues count every category as 1 game in the standings. Obviously, a team that always wins in a few categories can win the league easily by giving up 1 or 2 less valuable categories. Tanking can still be beneficial in Roto leagues provided you aren't way ahead in any category.
You don't need stolen bases to win. Its also possible to get players who steal bases later on if you want to put up a respectable showing in that category.
I would take Howard ahead of Pujols because I think he's more valuable in the 4 categories that those 2 provide. Nobody argues that Reyes is better than Pujols (I've yet to see that one, even though I've seen lots of magazine-copied "Anybody who tells you to take anybody but Pujols number 1 is wrong" posts), therefore I go with Howard ahead of Reyes.

Normally I'd take RYAN HOWARD, he's the 2nd best hitter in baseball, but then again Reyes probably contributres to more stat categories.Point is.. either way you go (SS then Power OR Power then SS).. you've gotta decide what looks better to you.

REYES YOU GOT SPEED AND POWER THERE!Reyes. His power numbers are trending up. He was able to hit 19 even playing for Mets. He will always get you 60+ stolen bases and expect a jump in power to about 20-30 level. He's a switch hitter so I expect his AVG to improve, if not it wont fall below .280 with his talent.
take reyes because he has speed and some power and does not strike out too often. Howard has great power, but you could wait a few rounds for a comparable 1b-man.

Go with Reyes. Power guys at 1B are plentiful. It's doubtful that he'll sock another 58 HRs, I would assume 50-ish. There are plenty of 1Bs that will hit 35-40. Get Reyes and he'll keep your team afloat with SB, AVG, decent power from SS, RBI, hits, etc.Howard will probably be the pick in a few years when he consistently hits 50+ and can steal 10 bases.

I draft Jose reyes. Ok listen ryan howard is going to get hurt this season because he is on steroids and because he hit 58 HOMERS LAST season and do u think he will come close to what he hit last year.
