Question:I've been offered David Wright for Josh Beckett.

Beckett is pitching well but pitches in a hitter friendly park and has a history of blister/injury issues. It could be that he has put it all together but at the chance of getting a stud 3B on a productive offense - I would give him up in a second.
Pitching is deeper this season than in mosts. Some deep waiver wire guys would be (based on 12 team leagues) J.Sowers, R.Ortiz, D.Cabrera, K.Wells, C.Silva, T.Gorzelanny, K.Loshe, C.Gaudin, D.Bush just to name a few...

That would be a great trade for the Mets, and a bad trade for the Red Sox. Beckett is one of the best young pitchers in the game. Pitching is what wins championships. Wright folded at the end of the season last year.Should i trade my Chris Young and matt holiday 4 jeremy bonderman & gary shefield?
I would do it. You still have good pitchers left and you desperately need a soild three baseman.Whats the deal with Ryan Howard?
Yes. Wright is the better player, and the best 3B you have is on a bad team and will be an average contributor. Beckett is good, but you have 3 or 4 pitchers who are probably better in DiceK, CC, Harden, and Verlander. Also, why do you need so many SPs? Shed some fat and bulk up the lineup.Take it. David Wright gets better every day, and he was good to begin with. Don't worry about losing Beckett because Lilly is doing well and Daisuke will end up doing better than Becket anyway. I'm sure there is another pitcher that can be good available. I am also sure there is not another David Wright.

Absolutely! Sell high. You can't get another deal better than that for Beckett than that. Beckett's numbers are sooo much worse than Wright's will be at the end of the season.
Do it now and then trade Zimmerman for another P. No doubt about it.
Any time you can get a top 10 player for any pitcher (except maybe Santana) it is a great deal for you. First of all you get a guy that produces every day as opposed to a player that can only (maybe) help every 5 days. Beckett is off to a great start but he hasnt had to face the AL east or central yet, hard to keep up the pace when he has to face some of these lineups. Both of your 3rd baseman currently are not the guys you want to make a run at 1st overall in your league, a top 3rd sacker is a nice difference maker. Plus you can turn around and shop Zimmerman to a team that has weak 3rd base options and get a quality starter in return. Also the free agent wire produces some very good starters every year and will do so again (it usually takes 3 or 4 weeks to see who is trending upward among the young pitchers). Besides looking at the starters you have, I would say you are in very good shape anyways and might not need to do anything. 5 quality starters still sit on your roster (Dice-K, Sabathia- who might prove to be your real ace, Harden-health equals a shot at Cy Young, Wainwright-might be the best of this years kids, and Verlander- voted best fastball in the entire majors by the scouting bureau and plays on a very good team). Make the deal and hope that it doesnt get vetoed (there will be some people who wont like this deal at all but I think it is close enough that not enough would vote against).Good Luck!
