How good is my team? Is there in trades/acquisitions I need to do?
Question:I'm in a 12 team, h2h, keeper(11 keepers as of now, may go up.) league. I currently have the best record in my league(21-2-1, but i think I can still get/do better) My team is as follows:
Batters:
C-Paul Lo Duca
1b-Justin Morneau
2b-Julio Lugo
SS-Jose Reyes(Bench:Khalil Greene)
3b-Aubrey Huff(Troy Glaus on DL)
OF-Matt Holliday, Alex Rios, Delmon Young
Util-Adam Dunn
Pitchers:
SP-Felix Hernandez(who is now injured), Johan Santana, Jeremy Bonderman, Ervin Santana, Daniel Cabrera, Zach Duke, and Braden Looper(Pedro Martinez on DL)
RP-Henry Owens, Chris Ray, Joel Zumaya
I have several pitching spots that I play w/. I drop pitchers who just pitched for pitchers who are going to pitch that night. Is that a good idea?
They Pitchers i have now who i will drop after tonight are:
Randy Wolf & Joe Saunders.
I jus picked up Zach Duke yesterday after sum1 dropped him for his poor outing. Should I keep him and wait? Thank you for helping me out!

Who should i start in week 16... please help?
ok look at it this way broc- Paul Lo Duca is a good catcher to have because he hits for a good overall average and he hits in the number 2 whole behind reyes, and in front of beltran, wright, and delgado so he should get ya a good amount of runs scored and drives in his fair share of runs and such as well..look for him to get you 10-15/70/.300 for the year in new york with the mets.....
1b- Justin Morneau ..can you say MVP? nuff said lol. has tremendous power output and can carry a regular team on his shoulders. hitting behind cuddyer and mauer seem to help his numbers as well. Look for him to have another great year in minnesota with about 35-40/125/.300 which is very rare to find a first baseman not named pujols who can hit for power and average..
2b- Julio Lugo should score about 08530495839458 runs in boston hitting in front of the likes of ortiz, manny, and drew also is legit base stealer...if its the lugo that played in tampa you got a great ss but if its the one from la then watch out..also has additional value due to eligibility at 3b, and 2b as well as ss..look for him to give you about 15/80/.280 and steal around 20+ on the year....
ss- Jose Reyes has some of the purest speed in baseball not named crawford lol..this guy can flat out run.and somehow hits for good power with his speed thats not normal...hewil get ya sb, runs, and rbis, and some homers as well as hit for a solid average.id say he keeps up his pace all year and hits ya 15/80/.310 and steals close to 70 bases for the year outta him.
ss(bn)- Khalil Greene..seems to have found his stroke again...yea its allways nice to have a ss that has 20 homer power but when you compromise your average for that its just not worth it...this guy will indeed hit the aforementiond 20 homers but hit .250 as well.
3b- Aubrey Huff..has found a good team to stay with in baltimore...has good value due to eligibility at first base, third base, and outfield as well.look for his usal 20 homers..dont expect the 30 homers again from tampa thouhg.expect 20-25/90/.270 for the year.
3b(DL)- Troy Glaus .....is a guy who just likes to let it rip not much caring for his average but hes all about the power .when healthy ahs great protection in that lineup with wells, thomas, rios, and overbay in that lineup so he sees more pitcehs to hit inturn giving you 40/100/.250 on the year...has additional value due to his eligibility at ss as well..
of- Matt Holliday is one of the best players in my eyes but nobody ever talks about him...i think he is one of the most consistent players week in and out.he gets ya solid numbers across the board except for sb...he hits for average and power and hitting in coors doesnt hurt either lol.look for another season like last with about 35/120/.310 for the year for matt holliday.
of- Alex Rios...is on the road to becoming a stud .last year he put up 20/90/.310 and stole 20 and he was injured for a certain part of the year too!.so if healthy for a whole year you can expect those numbers to even improve with potential to be a 30-20 guy.look for 30/95/.290 and steal 15-20 on the year.
of- Delmon Young has so much upside and potential to do good its not even funny.he has potential to hit homers, steal bases, and hit for average aka Bobby Abreu.i wouldnt be surprised in his first full yera if he gets ya 20/100/.290 and steal 15 or so ..
util- Adam Dunn just flatout lets it rip...has proven he can repeat 40 homer seasons and is trying to improve his BA as well...i think you will see an improvement from him and also see his usual 40 homers lol...look for him to get ya 40/110/.275 for the year out in cincinatti..
as for your rotation...
sp- Felix "the king" Hernandez....now that seattle is letting him throw his slider...he is what he was proclaimed to be and that happens to be unhittiable...just ask boston..the kid has the best potential and upside not named liriano or harden in the al....since he lost 20 pounds in offseason his stamina and power should be better and go deeper into games turning in a performace such as 17-11 with 220k and era around 3.50 for the year..
sp- Johan "does it get any better than this" Santana is about as good as it gets for an ace of your fantasy staff..look for cy young numbers again this year and expect nothing less than that.i would bet he gets ya 17-19 wins and era around 2.45 and 220k on the year.
sp- Jeremey Bonderman is still in his twenties with time for improvement and thats scary as well...usually a 200+ k pitcher and a proven innings eater can realy help your team out..look for him to win close to 16 games with era around 4 and strikeout 210 or so.
sp- Ervin Santana has the stuff to be filthy but just has to learn how to control his pitches inside the strikezone.had a good breakout year last year and should get you similar numbers to last but just a slight improvement..has a good breaking pitch and can strikeout a decent amoutn...look for him to get ya about 14 wins with era around 4 and strikeout 160 or so for the year.
sp- Daniel Cabrera is a solid choice here because yes he has his bad games but he has his good games as well...hes sort of like paris hilton because they got him being wild caught on film hahaha.no but if you can tolerate the era then hes good to have.look for 12-15 wins with 200+k easily and era around 4.70 for the year.
sp- Zach Duke is a decent young starter for the pirates he has great upside but needs to harness his pitches better..has learned to strikeout more gradually.numbers will get better with age for him.gives up too many homers though...look for him to get ya 12 wins or so with era arond 4.70 as well but only 160k or so.
sp- Braden Looper...idk how he has revived his career but he has indeed done it.no more closing for him though...look for 10-12 wins with era around 4 and 110k because he isnt much for fantasy numbers htough.!
rp- Henry owens is sort of an unknown entity so you dont really know what to expect out of him...
rp- Chris Ray meanwhile has proven he can close and he does it good to!...this man throws heat and gets the job done(except arod apparently hah) and so you can expect 30-36 saves out of him this year with era in the 3 and 70k for him..
rp- Joel Zumaya is good for strikeouts, era, and whip and an occasional vultrue win and save here or there...the man throws heat simple enough, cant really predict numbers because dontknow what role he assumes by years end.
and about the several pitching spots that wolf and suanders are pitching in right now...what you do when you pick up and drop starers the day of is called streaming and i do that too...its when you grab the starters from the next day they help boost your wins most times if you choose correctly and your strikeouts but more times than not they will hurt your era but i am willing to sacrifice that for more wins and k.for tomorrow i have taken the likes of colon, karstens(only because i have seen him pitch but i would advise you not too since its agianst the sox), and loewen, a few others to look at are greinke and snell and capuano too!..smart idea with streaming ...
so overall your hitting is light on power but heavy on the steals.you know your going to get plenty of sb out of rios, young, reyes, and lugo and thats more than plenty sb to win your league with, as for the power you have 3 30 homer guys in holliday, dunn, and morneau but the rest hit 15-20 which compensate in the long run so youl do fine there and just about everyone in your lineup except huff, dunn, and lugo hit for average so you will do fine there...heres a list of sleepers i provide for everyone..
c- Chris Ianneta or estrade both are having good years iannetta in colorado and estrada in milwaukee sholuld both have good years..
1b- Chris Duncan of saint louis has great power if he can hit lefties he should hit 30 homers this year..
2b- Aaron Hill has been having a good year in toronto to start and he should continue giving you solid numbers all around.
3b- Akinori Iwamura can hit for average and has good plate discipline but dont expect the 30 homres he got in japan .
ss- Tony Pena Jr in kansas allready has 4 triples and can really swing the bat...has good speed ..
of- Ty Wigginton has good 20 homer potential for tampa and
of- Brad Hawpe is consistent ever year and should get about 20 homers agian this year..
of- Chris B Young.should have a solid year in arizona hitting about 70 rbis on the year.
util- chad tracy is allready having a good year in zona much like he did 2 years ago..others to keep in mind, elijah dukes, jonny gomes, chris duffy, and lyle overbay....now a few others to look for are markakis, ryan theriot, mark derosa, josh hamilton, and if josh phelps ses more at bats then keep an eye on him too..also think about david dejesus too who is really tearing it up.
as for your rotation...you have 5 really good pitchers and 2 quality and apparently 2 streaming spots which is good.i really thin you need one more lcoser and get rid of zumaya unless your league counts holds because he wont do too much good.heres a list of sleepers to look at
sp- Jeremy sowers should have a good year in cleveland since lkast year in his rookie year had a solid year.....
sp- Ian Snell.can strikeout a decent amount in pitt...if gets run support should get double digits in wins.
rp- Dan wheeler recently named closer in houston.
rp- torres or reyes should get decent amount of saves for their respective teams...
p- wainwright doesnt put up particularly great fantasy numbers but good for wins
p- Adam Loewen poised young kid in baltimore who could have hell of a year.
p- kip wells with run support should do better than when he was in pitt..
also keep an eye on zach greinke, jason hirsh, clay hensley, pavano, igawa, micah owings, mike pelfrey, and anibal sanchez as well as jeff karstens, boof bonser, kyle davis, kyle loshe, and bartolo colon, and chase wright.
overall really solid team
i can see your team making a run in the play offs and possibly winings
hope i helped
goodluck
and have fun!
Zambrano,Pierre, Konerko, Benitez for Andruw Jones and Ryan Howard?
Good startung pitching. Alright relief, Owens is nothing and Zumaya isnt great for saves, although if Zumaya was a reliever hed easily have 30-40 saves. Good infield. But your outfield... it makes me cringe how bad it is. Don't get me wrong, Holliday is great and is averageing 40th in the draft, but hes no Manny or Soriano. You need that one marquis outfielder that makes your outfield. If there is any way you can build up the guts to do this, I would trade Santana, one of your outfielders, Owens and Zumaya for a top notch pitcher,a top notch outfielder, and a good reliever. A good example would be Santana, Alex Rios, Owens, and Zumaya for Carlos Beltran, Roy Oswalt and Bob Wickman or Jonathon Papelbon. These kind of deals actually happen all the time. Personally, I dont like to pick up and drop pitchers, because its such a guess with starters in free agency. Sometimes theyll throw 7 and give up2er, sometimes theyll pitch 4 and give up 20er.i see a few things you could change. first off your infield looks good except for huff. that position could be better. see if iwamura is still out there. if not look for wigginton in TB. hes got 1b, 2b,3b, and OF eligablilty. and he hits cleanup if im not mistaken for a very agressive young team. i actually like your outfield. holliday is going at a turtles pace right now but he will light fire soon. never been a big fan of alex rios but delmon young is going to be amazing this year. and nice with adam dunn at util.
pitchers are pretty solid. i dont like ervin santana or zach duke. not sure about brandon looper just yet. keep him cuz he might light up pretty soon. but zach duke has always had a high ERA and doenst win much. ervin santana is only good when he pitches at home. so keep him but if hes pitching anywhere but at home bench him quick! your rp's are ok. henry owens might pick you up about 10 saves. chris ray is very nice. and zumaya doesnt do much but get you a few k's every now and then. if he was the closer he would get about 25-35 saves. if your looking for some nice prospects to keep an eye on. look at micah owings and josh or john hirsh. hirsh plays in colorado but hes freakin 6'8" 250. and he has some wicked pitches with a fastball in the mid 90's and an amazing slider. with a good curveball to boot. ive grabbed hirsh in two of my leagues. so dont wait, just go get him!!
i hope some of this helps. good luck!
