Should I hate myself for my Fantasy Football screwups?
For 12 teams, yours has to be one of the best.C- McCann may be the best catcher this season, off to a fast start
1B- Howard and Papi? Man you got quite some power you definately don't need to improve their.
2B- Cano is a very consistent hitter who won't light up in home runs but he will have a terrfic average, probably a lot of RBI's in the Yankee lineup as well as many runs
3B- Freel and Encarnacion are both up and comers, Edwin for his great hitting, Ryan for steals and runs...smart move in having 2 3B in case one struggles or is off to a slow start
SS- Again, good job picking 2 SS, a position where depth is improtant. You have a lot of speed in Lopez, Freel, Pierre and Roberts, I don't expect Lopez to disappoint. But if he does in that less-than-spectacular D.C. offense, put Tulowiszki in. 2 good SS's you got.
OF- Obviously no lack of speed here with 2 guys who can get 45 easily. Rios should contine to do well in the Toronto offense that scores many runs. And coming from Chicagoan (although I HATE the cubs), Matt Murton will be good he has tons of upside.
SP- Felix will completely break out and should do well and Kazmir racks up K's and usually has a very good WHIP. Hopefully Zito returns to the Cy Young Oakland days and then you have a real stud there. I'm not a big fan of the Bedard pick, but he may be a sleeper. I just don't see him making a huge impact in Baltimore. I thought Dave Bush would be HUGE this year, but after the start against thr Cubs, I'm having second thoughts but continue to play him when he starts, I think he'll catch fire.
RP- You don't have any studs, but you got 4 guys that can all make an impact for their teams. Saves should come easy.
I give you a 9/10 very solid team. I recommend picking up Scott Olsen for Octavio Dotel. No matter if this league is roto or H2H, you really only need 3 decent closers for a 12 team league, so your set and I think Olsen is the real deal and should have a big year as well. Also, keep an eye on Ryan Shealy.
Which QB to start in championship game?
okay bro look at it this way...c- Brian McCann is proably the best power hitter in this given position.McCann is an incredible talent, but he will eventually break keeper-leaguers' hearts unless he's babied because catching kills batting skills. He should be great for the next 3-4 years, however..look for him to give you 25/80/.290 for the year in atlanta.dont expect him to repeat his .333 average though..
1b- Ryan Howard. No way he tops last year's HR's. No one will pitch to him. Pitchers will find out his weakness..but nonethe less...that was a joke lol...no hes very solid..starting the year off with a bit of trouble but he should progress better hopefully.the kid has natural talent look for him to give you 53/140/.300 on the year out in philly.the rbis might be a bit to high but those numbers are possible seeing as how he hits in a hitters park.
2b- Robinson Cano..Cano was third in the AL in batting average last season. A hammy injury cost him six weeks, but he batted .365 and slugged .635 after the Break. He's a real talent, but he had a 26-7 K/BB ratio in that stretch, so you should expect a bit of a regression...so batting in that lineup he will more than likely put up numbers such as 20/80/.310 on the year in new york with the yankees..
3b- Edwin Encarnacion. It wasn't surprising that a 23 -year-old like Double-E would wear down in September. He still managed a strong, disciplined season hinting at 20/10 potential as soon as this year. Draft him as a lower tier 3B in NL or as a top CI in mixed, knowing you could get much more..so on the year he should give you 21/95/.270 and steal 10 which is decent..
ss- Felipe Lopez...With Jose Vidro gone, Lopez will take over at 2B, and hit leadoff most days. He's not a very good defensive player, and he's a bit prone to mental lapses, but man, he can run. While i don't see any way he comes near his power numbers from '05 playing in RFK, Lopez should eclipse last year's 44 steals.so his numbers should be in the range of 10/55/.270 and grab close to 50 stolen bases on the year in washington..
of- Ryan Freel....Freel gets on base and steals a lot, but he has very poor power for an outfielder in shallow leagues. He's past 30 and he is somewhat brittle, so what you see is what you get..and what you will end up getting is about 6/30/.280 and close to 40 stolen bases.
of- Juan Pierre.Speed kills when you don't have it. Pierre offers elite SB and solid BA every year, and his runs bounce back after a season on the jinxed Cubs of '06. As a mid-tier OF1 in NL, or OF2 in Mixed, he guarantees you can ignore steals for a while. May be undervalued after perceived so-so year....last year had 203 hits and dont expect those numbers to go down either..look for him to give you numbers in the area of 3/40/.295 and get ya around 55 stolen bases as well..
of- Alex Rios.. Rios is 26 years old this season and absolutly oozing with upside. He was having a breakout first half, posting a .968 OPS before losing a month to a staph infection. He was lost at the plate in August, then got his groove back and posted a .979 OPS in September. All that, and he steals bases, too!...look for 25/90/.290 and steal 20 bases as well this year..
roberts? is this dave orbrian...im guessind dave.Dave Roberts...If healthy, Roberts gets you 40 SB. If on the DL, Roberts gets you hypertension. Expect some of both this year. Even with the speed, his runs are disappointing. but here is what he will give you on the year in san diego: 4/40/.285 steal 45 bases and score about 80 runs on the year.
util- David Ortiz.Give Big Papi a full season with Manny behind him and no heart palpitations and he could actually top last year's totals. Ortiz and Pronk are the only two pure DH's who should be drafted in the first two rounds of Mixed leagues. Papi's a first rounder for sure...he should get ya 50/140/.300 on the year in boston...has struggled to start year but should heat up soon.
bn- Troy Tulowitzki... Last season, Colorado's shortstop of the future became the shortstop of 2007. Tulo is a fine athlete with a broad range of skills, and he is only 22 this season. With the starting job in hand, he could easily detonate on the NL this year. He's not top-tier yet, but treat him like a solid second-tier guy, and you'll be happy..15/60/.270 on the year for his first year in colorado is what you should expect.
bn- Matt Murton...Has the skillset to be a consistent .290-.310 hitter with adequate power. Good discipline, young with upside..16/70/.280 on the year in chicago.
as for your rotation
sp- Felix "the king" Hernandez..He has Kevin Brown power stuff, but his mechanics make him an injury risk. This is a dangerous thing in keeper leagues, but in non-keeper situations, you should target him. He had a learning/setback year in '06, and he should come out fine. In other words, he could go off on the AL, and have one of the 10-best seasons by a starter in '07.he has tremendous stuff and lost 20 pounds during the offseason should give you good numbers...look for him to go 17-10 with an era around 3.45 and 190k...coudl quite possibly strike out over 200 if he can pitch to potential..
sp- Scott Kazmir(excellent pick, mainly overlooked due to the tb next to his name)..Kazmir is healthy this spring after missing six weeks because of pitching-shoulder soreness in '06. Last season, his innings and home-run rates worsened, but everything else, especially command, spiked dramatically up. Kazmir has power stuff and finesse, and is a potentail roto ace..expect him to go about 14-11 with 200+ strikeouts on the year and an era under 4...hes that good....
rp- Chad Cordero.Cordero's arbitration-eligible until 2010, which makes us wonder why Washington was evidently keen on dealing him this winter. Boston was the most interested suitor, but no deal occurred, meaning the closer will be back. He's a tough kid whose save numbers dropped in '06 mostly because his team stunk. He's a good option...good for about a 6-4 record...32 saves...and an era around 2 for the year in washington..
rp- Brian Fuentes..Fuentes blew one save between July 15 and September 30, a span which saw him rack up 14 saves and a win. Lefty closers can be scary, but Fuentes has posted 31 and 30 saves the last two years, and the job is absolutely and completely his. Colorado might not be good, but he'll get his....look for him to go 2-3 with 35 saves on the year.
p- Erik Bedard...Surprisingly hittable despite power, finesse and ability to keep the ball down, Bedard has come back from a series of injuries to thrive under Leo Mazzone. Expect incremental improvements this season, which could lead to a serious breakout...kid with great upside look for him to get ya a record of 15-10 with 160 strikeouts with 3.50 era compiled the entire year..
p- Barry Zito.Remember how everyone treated A-Rod after his contract was signed? Zito doesn't have the makeup to handle that type of criticism. What's more, his numbers won't be that much better than Matt Morris..look for his record to be about 15-11 with 170 strikeouts and era around 3.90 for the entire year in san francisco..
p- Saloman Torres..surprisingly has 3 saves allready and showing he can get the job done expect him to keep the job from matt capps and should get around 30 saves this year....
bn- Dave Bush..Just going by his improvement from '05 to '06, Bush might be poised for a breakout this year. His control is uncanny, his whiff rate is solid, he's tough to hit, and he limited the longball. He has four quality pitches, but lefties can pick up his pitches. If he pitches smarter, he could be huge.look for him to go 16-9 with about 160 strikeouts and an era of 3.50 as well..
bn- Octavio Dotel(DL)...worthless spot on the roster ...drop him hes just not worth the 10 saves and era of 10 as well..
overall your lineup is STACKED with speed and power througout with decent average as well..you know your going to get sb from freel, encarnacion, lopez, pierre, rios, and roberts and thats more than plenty and for power you got howard and ortiz and mcann and a couple of guys capable of 20+ homers and that will suffice and you have a lot of players with a good average overall...heres a list of sleepers worth looking at if you want to improve your lineup.
c- iannetta who could have breakout year
1b- lyle overbay who hits for average some power and some rbis as well.if hes gone look for phelps who could do good with the yanks hitting 4 homers in spring training
2b- ty wigginton who can hit the deep ball and is eligible at multiple positions
3b- iwamura has been promising to start as well who will hit for average
ss- omar vizquel will get ya plenty of sb and hit for a solid aveage in san fran...
of- elijah dukes who has shown promisinig power to start the year.
of- chris duncan will hit around 30 homers this year
of- jonny gomes will hit alot of hw as well if healthy
of- brad hawpe is good for around 20 homers in colorado
util- nick markakis is going to have a stellar year for baltimore this kid is here to stay
and as for your rotation.you have 4 aces on your staff and that is quality and bush wont let you down you have 3 decent closers which will be good ebnough in that category but dotel is useless...take a look at these sleeper pitchers to improve your bench.
Sp- Jason jennings is going to have a very solid year in houston proving that on his first outing
sp- chuck james who has kept his era this spring around 1 in 5 starts will be stellar in atlanta this year
sp- clay hensley who has a good k rate should do fine in sd if healthy
rp- dan wheeler could close out the year in houston if lidge cant go.
rp- valverde could shock alot of people has kept ball down this yera and could save around 30 games
p- wainwright who also has kept era around 1 this spring....
p- jeremy sowers who proved he could pitch in cleveland last year shall repeat again thsiy ear
p- westbrook is consistent as they come
and you could even add ian snell, gil meche, or daniel cabrera to that list and keep an eye on adam loewen as well
otheriwse this team could make a run to the championship in your league...you dont need to make any major changes.
hope i helped
goodluck
and have fun!!!
