What does everyone think about the 49ers draft? and Do you think they are moving in the right direction?
They filled some of the holes they had on defense last year with the addition of Clements and others. Gore had a huge season last year. Would love to hear some opinions about how everyone feels the 49ers will be this season. I think they are moving in the right direction. Playoffs or No Playoffs?

The team is very young as I statd before, as there are only 8 players on the roster who have 8 or more years of NFL experience. Critics might question the level of leadership on the team without the age. Although they do have the NFL's strongest man Larry Allen, Superbowl winner Trent Dilfer, ProBowler Walt Harris, and the underappreciated Derek Smith who has amassed over 1000 tackles in his career.
They have so much talent and potential from their age and with great coaching from Mike Singletary and Mike Nolan they should become a exponentially dangerous team.
Over the past 2 seasons the front office and coaching staff have drafted "freak of nature" Vernon Davis (who looked good in the few games he played of the 06-07 season), Patrick Willis, the Joe Staley, and picked up a lockdown corner free agent in Nate Clements and were able to get WR Daryll Jackson of the Seahawks. With great choices such as these its easy to see why they are my favorite to triumph over the other teams in the mediocre NFC West.
Lastly, the 49ers now have a solid 1-2 combo in Alex Smith, who has almost justified his taking of first overall in the draft a couple of years ago, and the Superstar from "Da U" in Frank Gore. With Gore in the backfield the 49ers now have the RB who can play consistant and dominate if he can hold onto the rock. Gore is now the best option the 49ers have had at RB since Ricky Watters in the 90s during the 49ers Dynasty.
The Dynasty of the 90s may have been the best ever, but if this team fulfills the potential it is capable of we might remember these group of guys long after they retire from the Gridiron.
Do u think that the raiders r going 2 do better this year with jamarcus russell?
they are my favorite team yes they r moving in the right direction"College Football Fans" who are the top 5 WR in this years NFL draft?
yes they are gore is a top 5 back, now alex smith made strides, patrick willis and joe staley will be huge for that team, i really think they could make a push for a playoff spotYeah man, they will definitly be in the playoffs this year..as long as Alex Smith has a good year. I think they have filled tremendous holes all over the place, they have good running backs, 2 good recievers now, so new O and D lineman. My only hope is for Alex to have a breakout season. If he does that are going to turn some heads. Watch out everybody its Niners time !
Tic toc..tic..toc,..Draft is way too slow?,.?
Im not a 49r's fan but I like Manny lawson and Patrick willis. That is a young linebacker core with tremendous potential. I think you guys will go to the playoffs next year. Hopefully Vernon Davis will have better production next year. They're definately moving in the right direction.
Last year was like the "Tale of Two Seasons".
They started like crap, but they turned it around
for the second half of the season.
They improved soo much during the season I can't even imagine how much they'll improve by next year.
I definatly think Playoffs next year for them.

Yeah, baby.
Three years ago, we had squat. Bryant Young was there, and Julian Peterson, but we were hurting all over the board.
But now look at us. We have Mike Nolan, who apparently is a genius, for coach. And our roster! Smith, Gore, Davis, Clements, Willis, DJack, Harris, Lelie, Alan... starting to sound like a pretty good team.
And they are FIRED UP. Everyone is talking playoffs in camp, and that kind of drive and will and attitude is what makes a championship team.
PLAYOFFS baby! All the way!
ive been watching the 9ers since 1979 when joe montana was a rookie. what the niners did in the draft and the off season. looks a lot like what they did in the 81 draft and the off season. not many stars ,just good team players. could this be another 81 season. i dont know. i will say it does look good.
Greg Oden vs. Tyler Hansbrough?
The 49ers had a good draft. Willis and Staley should be great players for a long time. I think they have enough talent to not only get to the playoffs but win a few while they are there. I don't know if I would say they are Super Bowl bound but they definitely have the talent to go far.I hate to be the only guy with a negative but I have to say there are two things which could keep them from the playoffs. First, how is the offense going to do with a new offensive coordinator? Turner was a great influence on Smith and Gore and I think he was the type of guy who was able to add to their stats with his play calling ability. Second, what happens if Gore gets hurt? Gore was a stud last year but he has had injury problems in college. If he goes down, who picks up the slack? Maurice Hicks? Maybe Michael Robinson but I think he is a situational runner not an every down guy.
Sorry to put a negative spin on my answer because I think with a healthy Gore and if the new coordinator is pretty good the 49ers will be hard to beat.
How can I get tommy maddox's e-mail addy?
Its not any easy answer. I think to many it looks they are but in reality they are clearly a few years away from Superbowl contenders. Maybe a playoff spot this year but I am putting them at 9-7 and not making it. They are weak at safety, defensive line, and offensive line. Not to mention wide out and tight end (whats up with vernon davis hes not even their starting TE anymore?). They will be in trouble down the road when their players cash in on their huge over-paid salaries. They paid way too much for Clements among other. Frank Gore is now a top 3 running back but has had fumbling problems in the past. On paper they look to improve from next year but I really dont see them going past 9-7 without legitimate threats in the passing game.More Questions & Answers...
