Whats your opinion about having a NFL tem in Mexico??
Growing up in the D.C. area, Larry Brown was my childhood idol. Lombardi inherited him on the 1969 team, and began Browns transformation from an undersized blocking back, to a not known for speed halfback. He had a never say die running style and it is difficult for me to think of any back that compares to him. Brown was also a fine blocker & terrific receiver.Brown was the gutsiest player I have ever seen. Never avoiding collisions, running north/south, always playing hurt took its toll on him though. He was a 4 time All-Pro, and even the league MVP in 72. His demise was rapid. His last 4 years in the league, Brown was a shell of his former self. If only Sonny had been healthy in 72/73, things would have been different in Super Bowl 7..
Yea, I remember him. He never made any hall of fame plays, but he was the best running back they had, at the time. He was replaced by the Diesel, if I recall correctly. Heck, I am a 49er fan, and have been 1972.
