black qb's tend to relie on their athletic ability.They dont take the time to learn defenses.That is why you get the inconsistancy with a black qb ala mike vick,cunningham,kordell.White qb's reie on their brains to beat you and make it harder to defend because they stay within the confines of the offense.Can anybody tell me how to play football?
Although its a racial comparison, I think that its more of a poise issue because many of the african-american quarterbacks are speedy and make plays with their feet. While the white quarterbacks are immobile but better passing abilities.In conclusion none are really better than the other

Thats not always the case. I am a college student at a Major university, and I just took my final in my Sports Sociology class today, and we have sort of been studying this and a lot of the reasons are white people traditionally are more educated then blacks.This is because institutions in our culture are more so set up for white people than black people. Whether you want to believe it or not its true, the SAT tests (for example) are formated and provide scenarios that middle class white people can relate to, not lower class inner city black people can relate to, and because of these things our society sets up failure for black people.
and because it takes a smart QB to read defenses, blitz packages and coverages, and not to mention remember the outstanding number of plays. the QB position in football is a thinking game, therefore a lot of offenses for black QB's are limited because they lack the knowledge or should i say ability to do so. Thats why most black QB's you see are mobile QB's because instead of checking from one wr down to the next, they just tuck it and run, or elude enough to get someone open and then fire the ball down field. And in the NFL these types of QB's do not have a long career because of injuries...and that in part causes problems for the black QB, and thats why they have shortened careers.
On the other hand, white QB's like Manning for instance, can read coverages, blitzes and then he can make the proper audibles to change the play so something else works for him, and we all know where that got him this last season. Not to mention hes been in the league for quite a few years now and has not been hurt yet.
Also, white QB's because of their knowledge tend to have better leadership skills because a lot of the times they know everyone elses positions, and what they are supposed to do on every play. Because a lot of QB's in the league come from better off homes, or living situations growing up, they know leadership roles a little better than the black guys who came up living in crumby neighborhoods.
Not to say there arent, or wont be exceptions, but traditionally thats how it is.
Let me channel Rush Limbaugh. The media has put so much pressure on the black quarterback to succeed. They want a black quarterback to succeed that many are placed in high regard that when they don't live up to expectations they look like a failure.
Now, in real life, there is no difference between the black and the white quarterback other than the color of their skin. For every Joe Montana I can give you a Warren Moon and for ever Akili Smith I can give you three or more Ryan Leafs, Heath Shulers and Steve Bartkowskis.

I wouldn't say white guys are always better quarterbacks. They usually tend to be better pocket passers because since they are generally less athletic, they have to depend on being able to get the ball to a receiver down the field.Black quarterbacks usually have more athelticism and if they are hurried then more of them have the option of running the ball themself. (Except for Byron Leftwich) However, many black quarterbacks are still very proficient passers. They just don't have to rely on that every time they drop back.

I feel white QBs are groomed from the very first time they pick up a football and if they show any bit of ability at playing the position, a coach will drill them over and over until practice makes perfect. Most black QBs played other positions before being thrust into being a QB or were part time at the position and then they develop into being a QB, but sometimes revert back to their so called "natural" position while playing QB. This explains why Vick can rush for so many yds at QB, if Vick had been groomed since age 8 like maybe a Favre or Manning at QB, we wouldn't have this debate. White people can throw good, black people can run and catch better.The answer is simple. The most athletic black QB's make the NFL and the smartest white QB's make the NFL. A fast white QB isn't as good as a fast black QB and a smart black QB isn't as good as a smart white QB. African Americans are traditionally a more athletic race, while Caucasian is more known for brains. So, going all the way back to high school and stuff... people like Michael Vick were taught to run, run, run and people like Peyton Manning were taught to throw, throw, throw.
