Troy Smith & Drew Brees?

Why are people saying Troy Smith is too short, when Drew Brees is the same height as Troy Smith 6'0. I know Drew Brees has proven himself, but c'mon. I hope the Ravens sign Troy to a 3 year deal so he can atleast prove himself.

When is the first preseason college football poll released?

I think Troy Smith compares better to Doug Flutie. Flutie was also a great athlete when he was young and also had a strong arm, though Smith is a better athlete and has a better arm. Both won Heisman trophies in college. Both were second-guessed on their way out.

Many idiotic coaches tried to turn Flutie into a WR or anything but a QB. He eventually was cut and ended up in Canada, where he was the best QB in CFL history, better than NFL Hall of Famer Warren Moon. Flutie was so good that the other CFL teams became jealous of his teams' success and passed through a salary cap that priced him out of the league. This salary cap sent both Flutie and Jeff Garcia to the NFL, where both becames stars. Former Buffalo head coach and current Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips continually benched Flutie for Rob Johnson whenever Johnson wasn't injured even though Flutie was a far superior player. Flutie eventually ended up in San Diego as a stopgap starter until Drew Brees was ready. He played very well, but LaDainian Tomlinson faded as the season went on and the Chargers ended up missing the playoffs. Flutie was actually the Chargers best QB until 2004, when Brees finally figured out how to play.

Troy Smith should compete with Boller for the starting job once McNair retires. Boller looked like he was finally reaching expectations last year, as he threw for 3 TDs in both games he got into. If Boller does finally figure it out, he could develop into a Steve Young clone. Steve Young also started out his career poorly and eventually figured it out and became a Hall of Famer.

Billick better bring back the playbooks he used in Minnesota this year. When you've got a former MVP at QB, a superstar RB, 3 great WRs (Mason's a great possession receiver, Clayton's a breakaway threat, and Williams is a big play guy), and an elite TE, you should rank among the NFL's best offenses, especially when your offensive line ranks with the likes of the Colts. There is no reason why the offense can't be just as dominant as the defense. If the offense had shown up against Denver, Cincinnati (the second time), and Indianapolis, the Ravens would have had just 1 loss last year. Then they're a Steve Smith breakaway touchdown from unbeaten going into the AFC Championship game. The Ravens defense never even allowed more than 26 points last year and they won the game in which they allowed 26 points (when McNair led the comeback against Tennessee).

There is no excuse for the way the offense has performed for the last 10 seasons (it was actually pretty good in 1996, when the Ravens had no defense because Ray Lewis was still a rookie). Only Vinny Testaverde in 1996 has ever thrown for 4,000 yards at the QB position for the Ravens.

The talent is there for the Ravens to break both the points scored record Billick set when he was with the Vikings and the points allowed record that the Ravens set in 2000. Billick should open up his offense once again and let the Ravens make a run at rewriting the record books. There is no better defensive mind in the NFL today than Rex Ryan and Billick was once the best offensive mind the NFL had ever seen. The Ravens could dominate the NFL if they would treat every team like they treat the Steelers (27-0 and 31-7). The Ravens only show up when they're playing the Steelers, or at least that's how it seems.

I am going to try out for football next year and I want to get faster and also a bigger chest size.?

yeah i hope he does do some good in the NFL but brees could read defenses better than smith could coming out in the draft and he did it with a lot less talent around him at Purdue.

How Will Virginia Tech Do In Football Next Season?

remember jeff garcia is that height too and hes been to 2 pro bowls and he didnt have that much talent to work with

Will Ladanian Tomlinson break his own TD record this season?

What might be worse is Chris Leak, the QB that wore out Smith and OSU in the National Title game, didnt get drafted at all. Hes also about 6' and about 215lbs. Leak played in a tougher conference, had more passing yards than Smith and only a few less passings TDs. I thik they both, Smith and Leak, will end up either at a different position(WR) or even out of the league all together.

Who are the top ten quarterbacks playing right now?

Yeah I think Troy Smith will get a chance to show Baltimore what he can do, but he wont be starting quickly unless McNair goes down with an injury (I'm not sure they'd go to Boller to be honest) That's the only way I can see Smith getting a chance to play this year. But as for the future...well yeah..Brees is as short as he is...Seneca Wallace is shorter and from what I've seen from him...what little there has been...he wasn't so bad of a QB either, nothing spectacular though. It would be a great situation for Troy Smith, that's for sure.

I'm still unsure as to what he's going to be capable of on that team, but I don't think Smith is going to be a bust in that he was drafted in the last pick of the 5th round...you can't really be a bust when you're picked that late, so that was the best possible thing to happen for him if he doesn't work out...people don't expect him to do well.but I won't be quick to judge any rookie though, anyone can make plays at any time.

Where can I get pictures from the Keith Bullock tailgating party in Nashville,tn on May 1,2007?

i like troy smith.

Who makes the more money football players or baseball players?

So troy Smith went to the team that used to be the Cleveland Browns. I wonder if Smith ever hated Modell for moving his team out of Cleveland? they'll have to kiss and make up.just kidding. i glad Smith got drafted. I was hoping he would have slipped down enough so the Browns could draft him too.

Will the 49ers be a solid team this year or what?

drew. from the system he has played in.

Why do Dallas Teams own so much?

OK. let's dispel the Brees/Smith comparisons right now. Brees ran a pro style offense at Purdue. Smith ran a vanilla run oriented offense at OSU. Brees was the lone bright spot on his Purdue teams as he was generally surrounded by average talent. Smith had two first round receivers, and a second round RB. Brees knew how to read defenses and direct the line to pick up blitzes. Smith got confused at the blitz packages that Florida and Michigan threw at him. he also had accuracy problems that Brees did not have. Brees also tens to hang in the pocket and make the good decision on where to throw the ball instead of pulling the ball down and trying to run with it. Smith seemed to have happy feet in the pocket.

Simply, the only thing that Smith and Brees had in common was their size. Brees was a more fundamentally and mechanically sound QB than Smith.
