I am having problems catching while in pads and helmet? How can I quickly adapt?
Our season started last Saturday, and I am having a hard time adjusting to being in pads and helmet. This is my first season of full contact womans football and I don't want to be a bench warmer all season! I have good hands when I am not in pads. But i can't seem to catch it while wearing my gear. Any other tips for becoming more agressive would help also. I have only hit a few times in practice at full force. Thanks!

How Do I try out for a NFL team?
Shoulder pads are measured and designed by position. If you are a receiver - make sure you have receivers shoulder pads.
The measurement is A-point to A-point
(Acromyum Process?)
across your back.
Being more aggressive to catch the ball means "coming back" to the ball after it's thrown...not waiting for it to get to you.
Once you catch it...tuck it up...high and tight...covering the tip as I'm sure you've been taught...and then dropping your shoulder and turning up field to run.
Focus is everything.
You have to put the shoulder pads and helmet out of your head and focus on the ball.
Repetition will help.
Good luck.
let me know if you need any more ideas.
Hall of fame 1963 bronko nagurski full back card worth?
First, i'd like to congratulate you for making the team considering your a girl. Most schools are sexist and dont let you do that. Everyone has that problem. Your not used to catching with equipment on. The key is practice. The only way your going to get used to it is through practice. Good luck ;)Are the new york giants awesome?
Practice in full pads. This does not mean full contact or the QB must be in pads.Heck it does not have to be a QB. I can be a ball boy making bad throws that you have to compensate for while in pads and helmet.
Anyway, ask your coach. Maybe he (or she) has some weird advice I couldn't dream of.
It's a little early, but who do u have winning each of their respective divisions this year (NFL)?
first is making sure that you have a helmet without a crossbar. second make sure you have reciever shoulder pads that allow you to raise your arms above your head. third practice catching with thumbs together in a "passing circle" when the ball is above your head and in front of you and pinkies together when below you. Get it??Is art modell the best owner ever and is robert irsay the worst owner ever?
Well first of all the equipment has to fit correctly.Crossbar can't be in vision's way & Shoulderpads can't be too bulky
Do you have football gloves? Those dramatically help the cushioning so the impact of the ball to your hand isn't so bold

Now this is the key part... EXTEND YOUR ARMS
Catch with your hands, make sure you have your thumbs together and then wrap your fingers around the ball once it comes
DO NOT "CLAP" Some people try to sandwich the ball with their hands, this is poor technique and down right just doesn't work
Once the ball hits your hands, slowly cushion by moving your hands back with the ball about 2-5 inches depending on the velocity of the ball
But again make sure your arms are extended and then do the cushioning
If at any point during the catch the ball hits the shoulder pads it will bounce off making it almost impossible to catch
Bring the ball in close only after you have complete control after the catch
Where can I find yards after catch statistics?
like always if you want to be the best at something you gotta work harder than everyone else. get out there in full pads everyday for as long as you can stand it and catch balls. dont catch with your body, always try to catch with your hands. if you are a reciever remember to be physical. dont let the corner push you around. you have to be able to get were you want to go. so that means stay lower than the defender and stay quick. if you play defense the only thing i will tell you is be fierce. any good defender will do whatever it takes to make the play. your gonna have to throw your body around. make them hurt and they wont come your way again. good luck.More Questions & Answers...
