Why were Courtney Brown and Gerrard Warren such big busts?
How could a team pick a player with absolutley no production shouldnt the whole staff that made that pick get fired.
Answers:
Will Ronnie Brown be a top running back? Or at least better than Caddilac Williams?
Well, it's hard to really pin the "bust" label on both of them. Yes, they underachieved. Neither has generated the sack totals the pundits expected. But, both are still technically in the league, though Brown has been horribly injury prone. Warren actually has played no worse than 13 games a season, and is a decent run-stuffer. certainly not #1 or even top-20 worthy.
The staff doesn't get fired, but you can bet that scouts do get kicked to the curb now and again.
I think teams get caught up in the buzz, and are unwilling to take the wrong player, for fear of fan and public backlash. Houston drafting Mario Williams was one of the first cases where I remember a team bucking the popular trend at #1, and guess what -- it was wrong.
I think a lot of players change when they suddenly have money. Their drive and effort may not be there.
There's no reliable measure of heart.
They were in cleveland that just could not solidify an offense. They were not busts, it was the system that was a bust. Peyton Manning could not help the system out, it was just a mess from 1999 and on.
Who's the greatest "All-Time" football coach in the Big 10?
Courtney Brown was injured his first year. The Cleveland Browns just flat out "stunk!" They also had a bust pick with Tim Couch. The coaching staff that made those picks are gone already right?Did Adrian Peterson from OU get drafted into the NFL this weekend?
I am still not completely sold on them being busts. I was with them in Cleveland, but since their move to Denver that has changed. Some players don't do as well with some teams as others. Tampa is also familiar with this having had Steve Young and Trent Dilfer, a pair of Super Bowl winners that went nowhere in Tampa.I know Courtney Brown was injured his first year, and has had problems since. I don't know if that makes a player a bust or not, but I would defnitely say BECAUSE of the injury, he couldn't live up to the hype.
