If you played semi-pro football are you eligible to play in the NCAA?
I am a 20 yr old football player, never been paid to play but i did play for a semi-pro team last year. I want to walk on for a division 1 school but i was just wondering if i would be eligible.

As long as you never recieved ANYTHING as compensation, you have a shot. But! You have to file with the NCAA, state your case, then wait on a decision.
That usually takes 12 months at it's fastest, unless you get lucky and get someone to help you expedite the matter.
You won't lose eligibility as you wait at least.
You can spend that time training.
Good Luck
Eric Swan once tried to go to college from semi-pro but was denied. So he threw his name in the NFL draft and was like the #5 overall pick by the Cardinals. Injuries shortened his career.
Sounds more like a city league team rather than a semi-pro team if you were not compensated. You do have to submit a letter to the NCAA asking for eligibility which does take some time.

As long as you didn't get paid, you should be alright. Good luck to the walk on.More Questions & Answers...
