Set history straight, Serie A and La Liga make the "Premiership" look pitiful, no?

Question:I keep hearing these Liverpool fans bragging of their 5 and so on... but let's count the silverware taken by country from the Champions, UEFA and Cup Winners Cup: 25 for Serie A, 23 for La Liga...

There is 23 for England thanks to a lot of Cup Winners Cups... lol

That any one of those three leagues could be considered "pitiful" is incredible. But perhaps I just took it for granted that those three leagues are the three best leagues in the world.

I would offer this: a strength of a league is strongly evidenced by how good the mid-table teams are. And the EPL's mid-table teams would seem to compare favorably to any league's. I say this because mid-table teams (lower than UEFA Cup) make winning titles and qualifying for the Champions League more difficult in the league and the mid-table teams show depth in the league.

With the EPL being the wealthiest league in the world, it is difficult to imagine that the depth of talent isn't there throughout the table, especially with the greater adjustment difficulties that players have had over the years coming to the EPL from other excellent leagues.

But yes, your question cites hardware. And it is true that hardware leaves a different tally. And hardware is how UEFA sets their coefficient - and yes, England is #3. But hardware is won by top teams and doesn't compare overall strength of the league's. But anyway, the top three all get equal footing in UEFA and the cut off is between #3 and #4 - so it seems that none of those three are pitiful!

p.s. I am from none of the three aforementioned nations.

Uh, no. You're talking history. In the past, those leagues might have been better. Now, none of those leagues could stand up to the EPL. England's top four could take out any European league's top four. Barca and Real Madrid, if they came into the EPL, they would be lucky to come in as high as fifth. Same with AC or Inter or Roma.
