Should Football Have 3rd Ref View?

Question:I have said to many people about football having a 3rd eye although there is 2 refs already on the pitch what about the handballs in the Penalty areas and also the offsides and also the fouls that go on in there. I am a Manchester United suppporter and last night we should have at least got 3 pemalties within that game.

If there was a 3rd Eye like rugby then they can be more precise like if a player says it was handball it will goto the 2rd eye man and then he can have a closer look. Football should be made an even gae like rugby.

I hope that many people will agree with me and whatever the results i get will be printed off and sent to the FA and i will get them to look into it although i think that they are doing it already.

So please put your comments and also what team you support so that i can proof that many people want this to happen.

Is it better to shield the ball w/ ur back then just play it.?

i agree to an extent...we definately need something like a camera in the goal to see if the ball has crossed the line, we also need the option of a 3rd eye for dubious penalty decisions...for example, the arsenal penalties v spurs...if the ref gives a penalty i believe that a player should be able to say to the referee something like please referee may we have the 3rd ref look at this...if the original decision is proved wrong then play would resume with a drop ball or something...however, if the referee is proved right, then the offending player should be given a yellow card for timewasting knowing he is guilty in the 1st place...i think that referees should also have microphones like they do in rugby so the whole crowd can hear wot exactly is being said..ie..at least everyone would have known exactly why john terry was sent off at spurs...i think we all want the game to be fair & we are not against refs, i just think that they do need help & we fans would appreciate some consistency.good question this...

What does it mean to have strong "technical" skills in soccer?

Wow i have been waiting for thi question a long time, i support Liverpool and i think that you are absolutly right about the 3rd Eye I think it should be brought on so that it is a fair game for everyone so i am definatly with this 100% all the way, Plus chelsea wouldnt stand a chance in getting any cups because they would have to stop DIVING so YES YES YES all the way.

How many people here don't support a club from there country?

I dont really know a lot about footy but in my opinion they should have replay cams like tenniss and cricket.

The question is.leeds utd r.i.p.?

To be correct there are 3 referees on the pitch, two linesman and the referee and there is also the 4th referee who handles the subsitution but it rarely gets mentioned. FIFA with the help of Adidas have attempted to place a microchip inside the ball so when the ball crosses the line it sends a message to the ref. This technology was tested in the under 17 world cup but not too sure what happened to it later. This is to remove the controversial arguments about did the ball cross the line or not.

However back to your original question, I disagree with having a video ref as seen in rugby. Because football(soccer we call it in Australia lol) is a free flowing non-stopping game except for injury fakers. Imagine a football match that it stops every 10 or 15 min. because there's a decision a ref. does not want to make wrong so he sends it up to video ref. Here are some questions you should ponder about:
Would the game be stopped and every offside ruling be double checked for accuracy?
When would the ref. call stop to check for handball? Whenever there is a protest from the opposing team? He would of blown handball if he saw it himself lol.

Making mistakes is part of football which makes it a unique and different game from other codes. Having video ref. will kill a lot of the atmosphere and stretch the game too long and I'm a die hard Man Utd fan as well.

Man U Fans .?

yes i am positive we need some type of camera ref, maybe even the ref sits in front of the tv screen and relays his decision to to one on pitch ,game too fast and too many cheats to carry on as it is ,one poor decision may make the difference between prem and championship, not fair to keep blaming the ref,he needs help.certainly made a difference in rugby, dont think it will happen though, because commentators would have nothing to get clever about.

Anyone got 2 spare tickets for the Derby vs West Brom game in the Derby end please.?

No, without controversy we wouldn't have anything to argue about. But maybe yes, if it puts an end to the cheating of the likes of Drogba and Ronaldo.
My team Stenhousemuir
