Why are people so addicted to watching sports?

It goes from one to the next to the next. Right now it is stupid basketball..I don't get it? And people "fans" and "players" get so violent too.

Whose better... Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell?

people are addicted to watching sports because there is excitement and it is fun to watch..

i love watching hockey because it is my favorite sport and i wish i could be playing hockey.. it is fun to watch and you get really excited to watch it, to see what the outcome is.

Skateboarding?

Because it's fun to watch.

Do you love boxing knockouts?

It's an interesting question. I would say the thing that draws us to sports is that it's a real life drama unfolding before our eyes- unscripted and raw, it develops better than any screenplay and sometimes more unbelievable than anything Hollywood could draw up (who would believe the 2004 Red Sox story?).

Also, many of us have played these sports so watching athletes execute and perform at the highest level is something that is appreciated by anyone who played sports.

As far as violence goes, when you consider the millions that go to events every year, the few isolated incidents are reserved for drunk ppl or just plain idiots. But in the whole scheme of things it is miniscule.

Whats a good song for a cheerleading competiton?

Because it's their team and they feel like they're part of it and it's full on excitement most of the time. Also they will watch it if they've placed a bet.

My daughter is 7 years old and is a level 4 gymnasts. She has sort of leveled off a little bit which is normal

People enjoy watching sports so much, because the athletes are doing things that they could never comprehend doing. And athletes watch sports because they understand and have respect for what the other athletes are doing. But for me at least, I get chills everytime Lebron throws down, or Ryan Howard hits a 500ft HR, or Tiger Woods sinks the 65-footer. It gives us all a piece of something we could never achieve on our own.

I get so nervous at Track and Field...?

It’s in the genes.
Somewhere inside ALL of us is the need to compete.
Not being able to compete in certain areas, we compete vicariously.
The fans that get violent; well, I really don’t know what to say about that.
Maybe those are they that don’t know how to cope with being beaten or losing. Try getting an opinion from a shrink on that topic.
Even you that call sports stupid don’t realize that you too compete on whatever level it is that you compete AND it is STILL SPORT.
It’s also entertainment; a distraction; something to do.
Do you like to watch skiing? Swim meets? Gymnastics? Auto racing? Fishing? Boating? Bowling? Billiards? Poker? Even stuff like board games can be categorized as sport.
If I were a gambling man, I’d bet that you’re a chess fan All of these are sports and there’s a WHOLE LOT MORE that some watch and don’t realize it’s sport.
Me, I’m just mildly addicted; I just got a chippy; mostly for football.
I’m not like those other addicts. I can control my habit. I can quit anytime I want to. LOL, :-)
