If any part of your body is hit in dodgeball, rendering you "out" why do people insist on aiming for the face?
Every friday when we play dodgeball at school the other boys are ALWAYS aiming for one thing: Your face. even though you could hit an easier target that doesnt hurt as much. Is this bad strategy or just plain cruelty?

The intimidation factor . The same reason a baseball pitcher goes for the head on a brush back pitch , or a defensive lineman will try to split a quarterback in two when "in the grasp" will do just fine . Dodgeball is a great example of life in general . The skillful players who are quick to react at the changes around them succeed in the game . The slow , lazy players are the first to be eliminated .... So take the hard shot in the face . Look your opponent in the eye and proclaim " you did not hurt me " . Today its a dodgeball in the face , as you get older it will be a tax collector , divorce lawyer , or prison guard who will try to intimidate you . However , you will be able to handle every obstacle life throws at you because you learned your lessons on the dodgeball court . Good luck , my friendStop being such a sissy. I'd say it's a pretty good strategy, although only if used as a strategy.Say they normally aim for the face, you'll likely be expecting a shot aimed at your face. Then at a crucial point in your game, they're about to throw, you expect a head shot... but they go for the legs, you're unprepared as you were expecting to have to duck, and they get you out.
Of course, the more likely reason is they're boys, at school, and trying to be 'manly' by throwing a dodgeball at people's heads. I used to do the same thing at school, as did pretty much everyone. I think it must be a phase or something.
Because it is HILARIOUS to hit someone in the face with a dodgeball.

They could be doing this accidentally, strategically or just because they think it is funny. They think it is funny until someone hits them in the face. Then they want revenge.
