If the NBA players are the best in the world, why can't they win a World Championship?
Question:For the last 10 years they could not make it into the finals.
European and South American teams are better.

More than likely winning the World Championship is the biggest thing for European and South American players to do. Seriously, except for a couple of guys there are not too many European or South American players dominating in the NBA. So, while they spend all their time getting their teams together America has to be content with having the best players, and when the time comes that America wants to take the time and effort and gets the players to go along we will win the World Championships.P.S. Most Americans care more about the NBA Championship, just food for thought.
I really want to learn how to figure skate after watching Blades of gory. Please help me?
All the players on the USA team are usually used to being the stars on their professional teams, and therefore have a tough time adjusting to the team-emphasized international game. In addition, some very talented NBA players are in fact from other countries and choose to play for their country in international competition. The NBA is the professional home for the world's best players, but when it comes to International competition, the rest of the world has many players who can compete with and defeat home-grown American talent. How do I strip the logo off of a Riddell Pocket Pro Helmet?
The rules and the court are different and other teams are more "team" players than showboating brats like our NBA players. What exactly is the "button"??
The difference is in your question. NBA players, domestic or international, are the best INDIVIDUAL players in the world. That doesn't mean that by putting all of the best players in the world on the same team that the TEAM will do well.European, South American and even Asian teams play better because they believe in the team concept. The understand what it takes to work as a team. They also have the opportunity to play with and against each other for a longer time. Some European players played on their countries Junior National Team. The more time players play together, the better their chemistry and synchronicity.
Think about the NCAA tournament. Lower seeded teams are generally not perceived to have superior talent. But they often have a system that the entire team buys into - one that utilizes their collective talents the best. That's why a team like Valparaiso can win a couple of games in March - they work better as a team than a group of individualistic McDonald's All-Americans.
The same goes for play at the international level.
What is the easiest sport for my son to go pro in?
Basketball is a TEAM Sport..the teams in Europe and S. America play a lot together as a team, while Team USA always try to recruit the best players they can, give them a few weeks to practice and start playing games...(Hence why the current US coach had the players commit for 3 years). There has been major development of basketball outside the USA in the last 10 years.and their level of play has improve dramatically.hence why US are not heavy favorites as in the past.
Also, some people argue that the rule differences between FIBA and the NBA may play as an disadvantage to the NBA players.
Why is it good for children to participate in sports at a young age?
Why? Because noone cares about the World Championships. Usually that's the tournament that is used to determine qualifiers for the Olympics, the true decider. You can't expect to have a cohesive team by putting players together that have little knowledge and likely have never played with each other. This is versus other teams like Argentina, Germany, Spain, etc that have teams that play with each other year round and have done so for years. In addition, there are also signifcant differences in the NBA rules and the International basketball rules. For example, in International basketball you can actually "goal-tend" the ball out of the rim. Lots of different nuances to the game. However, you want proof that the NBA players are the best? You put the best players on those teams that you said are "better" then the US players. Let me explain, take Tony Parker for instance, he plays for France an is the point guard for both France and the Spurs. However, he's not even the best person on his team, possibly not even the second best. Another example? Carlos Arroyo (part of that Puerto Rico team that beat the US) has been shuttled between Utah (bench player), Detroit (bench player) , and Orlando (bench). If these were truly better players they would be starting. And realize these are the best players the international world has to offer, that's why they are in the NBA with the best players in the world and the highest salaries. Need I continue? Dirk Nowinski, best German player, what did he do in the playoffs? Paul Gasol? He didn't make the playoffs. I love international players they bring something different to the game, however realize you will be in for a big awakening once our really young American team comes into their own. We'll see what you have to say after King James, Agent Zero, Shawn Marion, Lamar Odom, Kobe, etc. Not to mention they can't get the very best that they would want for an international competition because some people (like Shaq) refuse to play.It is because American's are great individual players. World athletes are great team players.
