Flexibilty and stretching?


i play a bunch of sports. should that make me more flexible cuase i cant touch my toes. is that bad? i dont usually stretch beforei play but i think im so used to it that it doesnt make a difference. i serioulsy cant even get close to touching my toes but i used to be able to.?

What should I do about my sports?

It's not the playing that makes you flexible - in fact the running and jumping etc will make you tighter over time.

It's the stretching that makes you more flexible.

Never stretch a cold muscle. Always warm up using activity, light jogging / calisthenics etc.

It does make a difference, mainly in injury prevention - a loose muscle can handle more abuse before spraining.

Cross country hs?

Stretching your muscles will allow you to touch your toes. As far as not stretching before playing sports - enjoy it while you can because unless you are in excellent shape (and that includes stretching your muscles) you will have an excellent opportunity to pull and/or rip muscles when you hit 26 or older.

Warm up a bit before running, etc. .
