Cheerleading Tryouts!?
Question:if you look at the questions i've asked, there is one where it is about cheerlading or band. i decided to go for Cheerleading for 2 reasons. 1. i played the flute, but the music teacher doesnt want any flutes because there are too many. He says he'll choose like 2 out of 15-20. im no professional, so i dont think i have a really good chance of getting picked. 2. Also, i have classes that are going to be interfered with Band, and its kinda going to hurt me. The requirements and stuff is soo confusing, if i do band, its going to be soo bizzaree.
well yea, so im for cheer.
i was just wondering, do you know any tips for tryouts. i've looked everywhere on tips, and i got some few, but i still want some moree. Our school, we have a week of training dance and chants and stuff, and we have to perform it by the end of the week. (toe touch is required, im sure.) im stretching a lot these days...sooo yea, thankssss for helping me out. (alsoo, tryouts are in like 2 or 3 weeks!

Dont be afraid to ask questions while learning the tryout routine. confidence is the key in tryouts. practice angles the most. if your motion technique is good, it will not matter as much if you are on the right count. most coaches are looking for someone with a good attitude, and that is strong in their motions. it is very helpful if you are a quick learner, because then most of your time will be spent perfecting your routine, not re learning it.Good Luck
now that you will be a cheerleader, you can make faces at the people in band at games that you both go to. (how i flirted with my boyfriend)
Wouldn't be cool i sports were more like the matrix or dbz?
I know you said you are not the type of girl you does cartwheels and stuff but cartwheels, 1-handed cartwheels, back-handprings and round-off backhandsprings are def. a MAJOR plus. If you aren't into the tumbling side if you do a cheer for your tryout use a BIG LOUD AND STRONG voice. THey want someone who can LEAD a cheer (hance the name cheerleader). Smile, look like your having fun and actually try to have fun. They want someone who looks like they really want this...more than anything. They want someone positive, energetic and dedicated. Where appropriate clothes (shorts and t-shirt) but not anything too skimpy because that is a major turn-off. Make sure that all your moves whether it be dance or tumbling or cheer are sharp and precise. Look Confident. Be sure of yourself. If you are going to do a cartwheel make sure its the best cartwheel you have ever done. ANd if you happen to mess up dont get upset. Think Positive. Just pick yourself up and smile, shake it off and put it right behind you. They aren't looking for perfection! Hope this helps!Do you have to be good to play a college sport?
Make sure that all of your arm motions are very sharp..No one wants to look at a sloppy cheerleader. Tumbling skills are a great asset and if you can at least manage a round off or round off flip flop, you might win big points. Remember to smile and have fun!!Just what are the rules to the game of pocket billiards ?
Well... I'm a freshmen in highschool and I just tryed out for cheerleading this year, I had no expirence what so ever. I didn't even no how to do a cartwheel. My advice to you for the tumbling is to sign up for gymnastics NOW! Especially if try-outs are in 2 or 3 weeks! Also keep streching. I don't no if your trying out for Varsity or JV but obviously Varsity expects more so get your splits ALL THE WAY DOWN! JV will probably cut you some slack so if you can I would go for JV. Work on your jumps too and find out how to do the preps for the jumps (just about every school is different) and talk to some people that have went through cheerleading try-outs at your school before. They should help. At try-outs be LOUD, SMILE even if you mess up, BIG facials, LOTS of enthusiasm, be FRIENDLY, DON'T get frusterated, and ALWAYS ask for help if you need it (don't be shy or embarresed)!! GOOD LUCK! :)ALSO LOOK THE COACHES IN THE EYE AND SMILE!!!
