Whats the original meaning of the word golf?
Its your driver man, Do what you feel is right. as far as re shafting a new driver..I re shaft most of my new drivers. The Mfg shafts are just too soft. I have even ordered what they call tour stiff and end up re shafting the thing after a couple of rounds. If you are going to steel shaft.I'd recommend a Rifle 7.0 I hit that in my 3 wd and love it.I am looking for people to play golf with, I live in rocklin ca?
I didn't do it with a driver, but a fairway wood. It definitely did make a noticeable difference. Like you, I have a very strong swing, so I don't necessarily need graphite. I've thought about doing it with my driver, but I guess I have reservations about altering the most expensive item in my bag. Maybe I'll try it with my older driver that is just sitting in the garage collecting dust.I don't think any pro golfers use steel in their drivers. I'm sure you can find a suitable graphite shaft for your swing speed. I don't think it will work well in these new big headed drivers. I've seen players using a graphite shaft with a steel tip. I think it's called the Bi-Matrix shaft.
What percent of a golfers winnings does a caddie make?
you know, I tried a new big head driver with a stiff graphite, and i sliced some banana shots. I switched back to my old steel shaft , smaller driver and straightened right back. I am thinking of doing the same and putting a steel shaft in the newer driver.let us know how it works out!I'd change my shaft to steel if they could make it lighter like the the graphite. I prefer the lighter shafts to get a higher swing weight. I had a D-5 on my previous driver and could crank out 300 yard drives pretty regularly because it hit like a hammer. When I switched drivers to get my launch angle higher, I got a standard shaft that came with the driver and the swing weight was a D-3 and I lost some distance.
