How should we split a party of six??
my husband and I are going golfing tomorrow with his folks and mine. They don't know each other that well, and at first we were gonna go with women together and men together, But now my husband thinks his mom might feel uncomfortable, so now we are thinking about my husband golfing with my folks and me going with his. What do you think?

each spouse going with in-laws was the way i was thinking. but you know what it doesnt really matter how you will do it because i guarentee you its only awkward for the first few holes. golf seems to bring people together.remember when you play golf with a stranger who joins the group. it feels really strange at first but then you eventually find something in common and its all good after that. if your really want your inlaws to get to know each other then yes get the moms together and the dads together. im sure everything will work out and you will have a great day.
if not then maybe you take your parents or his parents.

first 9 holes, men caddy while the women play. second 9 holes, women caddy while the men play. Team effort... hehehe...or: get everyone to agree to put their name in a hat and they will draw partners. That should be fair for everyone. (you must get their approval first though before doing that)

I would have each spouse play with the inlaws and play a team best ball type game, maybe match play so that you're forced to talk to each other between holes to see how the other group is doing. Make sure there is open dialogue the whole day and everyone will have fun.

We have a family event once a year called monkey golf. Ladies draw for partners and draw a number 6, 7 or 8. Ladies use only that iron and men use iron number that makes them 10 together. Alternate shots and who tees off. Only other clubs you have are a wedge and a putter.We have a blast. Of course we go later in the day and play only 9 holes. Best score wins the family cup.
