Why Scrutinize Tiger Woods for a 2nd Place Finish?

I just got done reading a couple of articles that are now questioning Tiger Wood's legacy after failing to win the Masters this past weekend. My question is why? Is the bar set so high for Tiger that a 2nd place finish at a major is so damaging? Tiger's closest rivals Singh, Mickleson, and Furyk all finished outside the top 10 yet nobody makes a point about that.

Can you tell me where i can find a site that reviews tayormade golf clubs without all the hype? Thanks?

You answered your own question. Woods undergoes such intense scrutiny because his bar is set so high. This is the guy who's destined to become (if he isn't already) the greatest player in the history of the game.

I wouldn't fret about articles questioning his legacy. That's little more than sports writers filling space.

Is G O L F an acronym for something?

Exactly. Tiger Woods changed the game. A lot of writers who know next to nothing about golf don't understand how hard it is to win a golf tournament. In the past, all the talk was "so and so has made 33 consecutive cuts!" or "He has 8 Top 10 finishes this year!" It tells you just how good Tiger is that anyone can rip him for coming in 2nd! When he doesn't win, everyone says "WHAT?! He didn't win? What's wrong with him? Tiger Woods sucks!! OVERRATED!"

What are your thoughts of the Wilson - vector golf clubs?

Because the best player in the world did not win a premier event

Who invented golf castle tees?

Absolutely! Yes we expect to see Tiger win every time he tees it up. But even Tiger doesn't always have his A game on line. And even Tiger's B game was good enough to keep him close enough for second.

Why not talk about the great day Zack Johnson had to beat Tiger? Why not talk about how Goosen who bearly made the cut could have won? Why not talk about how brutal the Masters was this year? The best golfers in the world played four days of golf and no one ended up even Par? The only way it could have been rougher was to plant land mines.

Any writer that questions Tiger's legacy obviously doesn't read records. Why are they talking legacy now? Tiger is still playing. A legacy is what you leave behind when you are done. Last time I looked Tiger definitly wasn't done.

The reason everyone is "questioning" Tiger is because he had an excellent chance to win this thing, but couldn't get it done. After having a share of the lead early on Sunday, he wasn't able to pull away from the pack. He missed an easy birdie on 16 and came up woefully short on 17. By that time Johnson was out of reach (barring a miracle hole in from the fairway on 18).
Remember how Mickelson was ridiculed when he blew the US Open? Pretty much the same thing here. In my opinion, Tiger was not playing well at all. He didn't look like he was comfortable over the ball. Notice how long it took him to commit to a shot? When he's rolling, he's much more decisive and determined. He was off target and wasn't dialed in on his distances, either. Not making excuses, but if he was on it, he probably would have won by 2 or 3.

This is not a Question just somthing i have to say?

It's common practice for "journalists" to point out the reigning king's shortcomings in order to create controversy and keep the "buzz" going. It worked on you, didn't it?

Is 50 strokes the same no matter what the course par is?

why you ask? Sound like to me they don't have any thing better to write about Tiger. Instead write how The Masters was transform into a monster of a course (long and the greens was fast) with some help from mother nature. That is the story, when was the last time you seen or watch the pros having a hard time on that course?

They (the reporters) half of them if not all of them probably never play golf at the level as Tiger. How dare they write about his legacy is damage from not winning this year Masters. Tiger Woods had done so much for golf they should be ashamed of themselves to write such article. Alone Tiger had rise the prize money from six figures to seven, can you tell me is there any other golfer have that kind of impact. He have brought more people interest in golf, more golf course was built because of him. What other player before Tiger Woods has won over 50 tournaments before the age of 31.
Tiger has raise the bar in golf and others have to step up their game so they won't be embarrass out there on the golf course (getting beat by 12 strokes is not a laughing matter). Alone Tiger had set and own most of the golf records in the history of the sport. This along have cement his legacy in golf.

Again the sports writers didn't have any thing good to write about, even with Zach Johnson winning the tournment. How much can they said to keep the publie interest. Tiger legacy is so intact nothing and damage it.

What is the proper length that golf clubs should be?

I personally think Tiger should win this Masters, hadn't he been so sure of himself in hitting that low circle fade on the last par five and the high lop on the par four that both took him into the water and the sand.
A lay up on the par five will give him a birdy and possible birdy on the par four that he went into the sand. Both shots are low percentage hit, and he was so sure he could make it. Of course if he could make these two key shots, he would already had won this masters. But, with his level of play he could lay up and eventually force a play off. In a play off with Tiger in a masters, I don't think anyone at this moment can stand the heat.
So, that's why Tigers get scrutinised badly for being second while he should have won. And, for Tiger it's not just a Masters, it's a record of four Majors win in year that he looks for, or matching Jack's six masters.

What is your best score for a round of golf?

i think it was the way he finished second. As most of you have watched the final round you would see that the way he played the back nine was totally un-tiger-like. He played like a wounded animal, never seeming confident about himself. And when self-doubt creeps in even the best players will fall apart. Tiger has been praised over the years for mental toughness, but this year's Masters brought out the worst in him.

But yea i do agree that it ain't easy to make the cut, let alone finish in the top. Reporters often try to write about random stuff just to increase readership. Kinda selfish if you think about it.
