When do you use a lob wedge in golf?
i got a free one and don't know what to do with it
Answers:
The amount of bounce on a club usually dictates its primary use. Lob wedges with low bounce can be used on firmer lies, whereas those with a high bounce are often used from the rough, or the sand.

lob wedge? assuming it's a standard one and not a hi-lob wedge. usually they are about 60 degrees in loft. only real times you can expect to use this club are near the green. generally anywhere from 60 yards out and less is the prime range this club is used. if you're stuck in a deep bunker, then this is the time to use it. you probably won't find TOO many uses for this club since it's more a low to mid handicapper tool. your average hacker won't ever and probably couldn't use this club properly since they lack the skills necesary to do so. since you got it as a freebie, take it to the range, or better yet a pitch and putt or any small, short course, and tinker with it. you'll get an idea of how far you can hit it and if you feel comfortable with it. from there you can find uses for it on the real course. obviously if you can't hit this club well, don't even think about getting a hi lob wedge. these are usually 64 degrees and higher. very tricky club. I use to have a hi-lob wedge. it is currently rusting away at the bottom of a lake on the 18th hole at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Youngwood, PA.What is the best way to make proper progress with golf?

How to maintain/clean my golf clubs?
A lob wedge is a specialized club in the sand wedge variety. It is used for shorter approach shots where you want to get the ball higher and land the ball softer (i.e on a down sloping green). It is seldom used from outside 60 yds and can be used when only two or three yards off the green if you have mastered the flop shot. You need to practice with this club as it more difficult to master than a regular pitching wedge. I use the lob wedge depending on the situation anywhere from 90 yards and in. The loft on my lob wedge is 60 degrees. I use it quite a bit in bunkers where the sand is firm (my lob has only 3 degrees of bounce). I absolutely love my lob, but I practice with it quite a bit too. I've been using a 60 degree lob for about eight years. It's definitely a stroke saver! But you must practice with it. Do not use it from severe up hill lies, unless your short sided off the green and must stop the ball quickly. On severe uphill lies you're generally better off using your sand or pitching wedge.Do i have to buy golf ball markers to mark my golfballs or can i just use a penny o something?

Lob wedges are good for short shots around the green or hitting high soft landing shots over bunkers or to tightly paced pins. I vary the loft of my sandwedge by opening or closing the face depending on how high and softly I want the ball to land over short distances.More Questions & Answers...
