What tips can you give me for re-gripping a golf club?
Back spin is created when the ball is struck with a full swing that delivers a downward/forward blow. This strikes the ball first, then continues down into the turf and forward to create a divot slightly ahead of where the ball was.As you "squash" the ball into the turf, it rides up the face of the club, and the grooves grab it and spin it backwards. You should get a nice high arc, so that the ball lands mostly straight down. (If you are hitting low arc shots with a high loft iron, you have other improvements to make in your swing before trying to get spin.)
Getting that direction and timing correct takes some practice. Start with a high lofted club, say a pitching wedge.
Place the ball slightly ahead of center, so that when you swing down at it you will also be swinging forward a little.
Practice to hit the ball first. Hold your wrist angle as long as possible. If you release your wrists too early, all you will do is hit fat into the ground behind the ball. That hurts!
Next practice extending your swing out forward after hitting the ball. Try to take a long divot. Exaggerate it at first.
When you can do these things with reasonable consistency, try to get your distance to land on the green as the first touch down spot. You must land on the green first. If you hit the fringe, fairway or rough first, it will take all the spin out of the ball.
Now go somewhere that has reasonably soft greens (probably not the range). This may be difficult to find on public courses. Many courses have been putting sand on their greens every Fall to toughen them up. This makes them harder and resistant to spinning balls which tear a hole in a soft green when they land, a "ball mark".
(Unfortunately, many people will not repair ball marks, so the golf courses are making it so they don't make ball marks. This limits the effectiveness of ball spin.)
The pros play on nice soft greens, so the "jump back" shots you see on tv may not work on your course. Still, a ball with backspin will not bounce nearly as far as one without it.

most golfers can't. that's why the pro's are the pro's and get paid big bucks. Spin on a golf ball has to do with having the clubface descend downward upon a golf ball and then taking a divot - the arms and wrist turn through the swing right before impact and the downard descent and the angle of the wedge generates ball backspin. Some golf balls are better suited for this than others, but if you don't get backspin on your golf shots, don't worry, most golfers don't.Slims got it right ...
Here are the basic conditions that must be met before the shot even occurs. If these factors are not in place, don’t try to create backspin.
Conditions must be completely dry - (the club face, and the ball included)
You must be on the fairway – (grass can’t get in between the club and the ball)
Green’s have to be very nicely kept – (very short)
then you still hope.. One tip if you want the ball to bite more when it hits the green is usually a balata ball softer ball and if you're an accurate player works great. If your a beginner I would worry about hitting greens more often before learning trick shots.
takes years of pratice. dont worrry about spin untill you get the fundementals down. to spin it you got to hit it hard and hit down on it o yea use prov's not prov1x there mainly for distance
