The point of the game is to get the lowest score by hitting the ball into the hole. But the point of playing the game is different for everyone. Some take it up because they want to, while others use it in business. Deals are always made on the course! The main object of golf? Hmmmm..sounds a lot like a question that has no answer. Much like the age old, "what is the meaning of life?"There is so many different reasons to play golf and so many goals in doing so.
Some want to play just to get away from the wife. (This group of golfers are often in the 20-35 handicap range, and about half of them don't even really like golf that much.)
Some play in hopes of one day doing it for a living. (like myself, these are anywhere from scratch to 10 handicappers. However, when you only get a chance to play a few times per year and still shoot in the 70s you'd think you got a shot..we'll see about that.)
Some play the game because they really understand the essence of golf. (the greatest game on earth, played mostly in great weather on 7,000 yards of beatiful green grass.)
And some are there because that stupid little white ball is taunting them in their sleep because they missed that 6 foot eagle putt on 18 today and it would've been their first eagle but instead it went 4 feet past, resulting in a 3 putt par. Those damn golf gods have struck again!!!!
