What are my chances to play high school, college golf?
Question:What are my chances to play high school, college golf?
I am 14 years old, Freshman in high school. I practice on the range every day for 4-5 hours with 1 hour of short game/bunker practice. Also another hour for putting. My handicap is a 12 right now. The handicap should go down because I am planning on getting a few lessons. My golf clubs are Taylormade, Callaway, and Odyssey and top of the line, custom fitted. I practice alot and am playing way better and consistantly. My only down side is I'm pretty small and can only drive about 225-235 yards. I started lifting weights however so I should get stronger. I also am going to us the Momentus Power Hitter to build up my clubhead speed. I go to De La Salle High School in California. Their Varsity golf team won the state championship last year but I'm only trying for J.V. or Freshman.
Oh yeah, I've only been playing for 8 months.

How to wire a 1987 EZGO golf cart, not the batteries, but the other parts.?
If you've only been at it 8 months, you're doing pretty darn good...go for it. Driving the ball in the 230 range is not bad at all for a 14 year old...that distance will go up as you mature and build some more muscle...I know you know this, but don't forget that distance off the tee is a function of clubhead speed, not force of swing, so work out to more to build in flexibility with added strength, and no so much muscle mass. Practice makes perfect, dude, and seems as if you've got a A-1 work ethic...I think you are good to go...definitely take a shot at it...and we'll be seeing you in Q-School in a couple of years...good luck.PS--You are attending to you school work as well, aren't you? You really do want to be a student-athlete. OK, enough lecture, go get 'em.
How do you set up to hit a long fairway bunker shot?
You 4 sure have the working hard part down ! Give it all you got, and don't let anything or anyone stop you. If you give it your all, you'll have no regrets.even if you don't make it.Write this down on a small banner and put it above a mirror somewhere in your house.."YOU ARE NOW LOOKING AT THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN MAKE YOU A CHAMPION !!"
wow you r great for only playin 8 months!! keep it up .. i think you will do really well. your chances are very good. my cousin has like a 11 handicap n he is a senior they came in 10 in state.. u will do great
well i live in wisconsin so you have a wayyy longer golf season then us. i am jelous! its good you have such a good gpa thats good but actually they dont care what your gpa is as long as its high enough for you to stay on the team. do you seriouly practice 4-5 hours each day? that seems unrealistic? thats good you practice putting that is a make or break on the course, and coaches love good putters. lessons help alot! i dont they will care about what clubes you have- but i have taylormade also and they are pretty sweet clubs. you can actually drive pretty far but i think you are right you may want to increase that. i think you are doing pretty good but boys golf is so competative even here in wis so i bet it is even more competative in cal. but even if you dont make it...you love the sport dont you? you just started. so dont give up and i bet you will make it the next year and they will see that you have practiced and gotten much better, go golfing with some somphs you know that were on the team last year they will help you out alot and give you pointers and things the coaches look for. good luck!
I shot 90 at a par 64 course yesterday, if I do that everytime, what would my handicap be?
Work on your short game. It doesn't matter how far you can hit the ball right now, that'll come as you mature and get stronger. The best golfers from my area that went on to play top Div 1 golf were all tiny when we were playing junior golf. They didn't hit the ball very far at all, but they hung w/ the bigger hitters because their short game was way better. Then once they grew into some power, they became pretty good. I know its the most boring thing to do, but practicing your shortgame is by far the most affective way to improve. Just compare how many iron/tee shots you hit to how many chips and putts you hit in a round and it'll be clear as to what you should put the most time into.Does anyone have any opinions on the skycaddie? Do you have to subscribe to a service?
You have a good chance my friend just focus on shooting about 2 5 over par they on play nine holes and you will succeed. Why did nike choose tiger woods for its endrosements?
A 12 handicap as a HS freshman isn't bad. You need to spend more time on your short game. Since you don't hit the ball real far, focus almost all your practice on 150 yards and in with a heavy emphasis on putting. Work real hard on your wedges and around the greens. That should drop a few strokes for you.I was on a really good golf team in HS. The entire varsity team had handicaps below 8. When I graduated I was a 4, it got me offers to play at a few schools here in Ohio, but I focused on academics then,
very good keep up the good work, keeppracticeing
