12 day lay-off? Good or bad?
Question:I heard today that if the Sens close ot the Sabres tomorrow and the Wings/Ducks goes 7 then the Sens have 12 days rest. Good or bad? That long seems a little bad to me, just too long. You want to get right back going, especially when playing well. Some might want the west to pound the snot out of each other in 7 games but IMO they should hope that the other series closes out sooner if they sweep. I have seen these long lay-offs kill teams. If you asked the Sens players, I am sure they would agree that a couple of days off and back at it would be their preference.

I have heard a lot of players bemoan the loss of momentum and talk of getting rusty during a long break. I agree, this is too long to be out of such fierce competition. The Red Wing players hate the octopus tradition because that disrupts their momentum and breaks the flow of the game.

12 days rest may hurt the Sens but for one game. During that time they can scout and work on a plan of attack against the other two. But you are also right, it takes too long to decide the winner after a long season. I think they should have dumped 10 games when the expanded to 4 rounds. With preseason games and a full playoff a guy could end up playing 116 games from September to June. That's baseball numbers. How long does it take a 14 yr old to learn how to do a hockey stop?
12 days would be very long for players and fans but I think if you asked the Sens they just wouldn't care. They aren't going to lose the focus when they are that close.More Questions & Answers...
