Should nhl playoffs include shootout?

Here's where i stand, i dont think a shootout should be the same in the regular season as in the playoffs. Instead of a shootout after a one ot of 5 min, i think they should play 2 ot's of 20 min then shootout. Teams playing 3,4,5 ot's is no fun for the fans or players. At that point its a victory just to be able to stand up.

Did anyone watch the Steve Yzerman retirement??

No. If you're not fit enough to play that long, you deserve to lose.

In addition, the shoot-out only really tests how well you would do on a breakaway where as overtime would be a test of everything you've done in regulation and endurance.

Are there any women out there that are huge fans of hockey?

No. Never. They should take them out of the regular season too.

Do the winners of the Stanley Cup get invited to the White House?

YES.
I dont know y there isnt but it would make the playoffs a beast better.

Where did hockey get the term 'hat trick'?

I agree. i think after one period of 20 minute OT there should be a shootout because fans get bored and the game starts to have no spee to it anymore. Its like your kids playing when you get to the 4th overtime like Vancouver and Dallas.

Who is gonna win the Stanley Cup this year?

No.you gotta duke it out. Hockey is a team game and a game as important as one in the playoffs should not have the outcome determined by a set 1vs1.

Daoes anyone understand?

it's sudden death! the format is fun to watch, and the goalies have to remain sharp. let them play until someone scores! mistakes will happen from tired players, it's up to the other team to capitalize, are you a stars fan or something? lol

In hockey what qualifies as a game winning goal?

i agree... with no one

NHL Question?

GOD NO!! you aren't Kara Yorio in disguise are you?

Does Sidney Crosby like European hockey?

I don't know who says it's boring, long OT's are the best thing about playoff hockey. It's amazingly exciting.

Do you think the Sabres will comeback to beat Ottawa?

Absolutely not. I don't understand why everyone is suddenly making a big deal over this, games that go over 5 periods are VERY rare. If this ABSOLUTELY has to be changed (and I don't see why) then the answer is a longer break and/or shorter overtime periods or to restart the overtime a day or 2 later. (I'm not suggesting this, but this would be the right way to fix the "non-existent" problem).

Shootouts leave Defensive play, Body Checking, passing, stickhandling and 90% of the beauty of Hockey in the trash and really don't belong in the regular season either.

Note when I suggested a SINGLE penalty shot as an OPTION to a penalized team (far from a way to decide a whole game) THAT got unanimously shot down too.

Someone asked this question about a year ago, but I'll ask it again: What is up with Patrick Elias?

absolutely not.

i agree w/ the guy above. someone will make a mistake, and it's up to the other team to capitalize.

don't cheapen the previous 60 minutes by awarding the team and entire playoff win just because they have better 1-on-1 skills

Who else thinks the Oilers should go back to their classic blue and orange uniforms?

i think they should. it makes the games more exiting. the nhl would be way more popular then they are now.

Who are the ten best upcoming free agents?

Shoot outs are definenitly exciting, But a team should not lose in the in the play offs due to the fact that the goaltender messes up on a missed shoot out. The whole team should be given the option to play offense and defense untill it ends in regulation or OT. Who cares if it goes into a 3rd OT or more haveing that causess you to sit on your hands and hold your breath, and the anticipation of the outcome is just so great! I wouldn't trade it for the world. They are there to play and to see if they can beat the whole team and not just the goaltender. NO shoot outs in the play offs.

Where can I find playoff series statistics?

hey if u dont like watching two world class teams going at for 3 4 or 5 periods i cant really consider u a real hockey fan sure the overtimes might wanna give u a heartattack but thats what makes the playoffs fun to me knowing u gotta preforme your best or the games over thats fun

How much does the hockey skate nike bauer supreme 90one cost?

No, it's a team sport and the game should be decided as a teem.

How much is my jersey worth?

If you can't watch 4-5-6-7-etc. OT periods of hockey, then you're not a f*cking hockey fan, I suggest finding a new sport.

Will Brodeur or Luongo beat Bernie's Parent's record of 47 victories in a season?

Are you stupid? Watching a game go through two, three, or four overtimes is the most exciting part of the playoffs! The shootout has no place here, it doesn't really belong in the regular season either.

What happened to the caps?

yes but after a few ot's

Who will be the 8 teams in the east? the west? and who would you like to see in the final match-up?

No

Realistically you cant have these forever long games all year long, but in the playoffs I love it as a fan.

Does anyone know when NHL playoff tickets go on sale or if they already are?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Should Ray Emery be the starting goalie for the Ottawa Senators?

Yes. They should stay consistent to the format theyre using for the regular season. 5 minutes of OT, then a continuous shootout

Are there some NHL players who act like this?

No shootouts should not be in the playoffs because they ruin the outcome of the game.

Will the real Jujubah stand up?

I like the shootouts during the season, but being awake until 1 in the morning is what playoff hockey is all about. It's definately exciting. There'd be too much controversy if teams lost game 7's in a shootout. No one can complain if they lose in overtime.

What is the difference between the current offside rule, and the new tag-up offside in hockey?

No way. The best part of the nhl playoffs is the overtime games that just keep going and going. They are intense because every chance could end the game and sometimes a season.

Will the canadians be able to hold on to the 8th place? they have been great these last few games?

Your Nuts!! if you want to remove the current OT Playoff rules. Playoff hockey, Overtime encluded is the best hockey ever. there is no goal more remembered than a mulitiple OT goal. im a sharks fan and one of the most talked about all time goals is Ray Whitneys double OT win in game 7 against calgary. just hearing the play by play even to day still gives me goose bumps. the 4O/T game in the vancouver dallas series was amazing. playoffs are a testiment of will and stregnth, and solid team work. S/Os are a showcase of skills to keep TV ratings and time schedules which belong only in the regluar season. and besides yourself which fans hate multiple OT games? not to mention which players? thats right the losers! dont change the playoffs, they are perfect already!

Record For Smallest Crowd in Attendance in one Game?

No, I say make them work for it. It adds an extra dimension to the playoffs and makes the team have to really work for a victory.
