Has a player ever gone -1 goals scored in a season before?

Last night in the Bluejackets/Ducks game..Anders Eriksson deflected a goal into his own net off his sticks. Bubba has 0 goals scored this season, and I have no reason what so ever to believe he will score one in the remaining games. Anyone know of any players who have been gone scoreless in a season AND put pucks into their own net??

Brett Hull on NHL on NBC?!?!?

It's not recorded as an own goal like in soccer. Many players have gone more than a full season without scoring.

Why isn't ken dryden considered the best goaltender of all time?

Hollweg has one on a perfect pass from Jagr or else he would have no goals, but he does fore check well and does the dirty stuff you need so I still like him.

Guess this jersey#6?

I'm sure it happens a lot. It's not the same as an own goal in soccer (futbol if you prefer), in that it happens rather frequently and it's not recorded as a stat.

A lot of defensemen go seasons without scoring a goal or even an assist. I'm sure a few of them have deflected goals into their own net. It's not hard; it happens. It's a common strategy to get traffic in front of the net--the attacking team tries to deflect the puck in, but often it will hit a defender's stick or skate.

How did Wayne Gretzky get assigned number 99?

No, it has never happened, but could soon.

So, is it me, or does everyone's favorite hockey writer say NOTHING in her newest installment of drivel?

This is something I don't think you can say, 'no it never happened before'. There are 100s if not thousands of players who have played a full season in the NHL and have not scored a goal. There's a good chance that at least one of these players deflected the puck in his own net.

If someone remembers it happening before then they could say that they remembered it. But, unless you go back and watch games from the past 75+ seasons, I don't think you will be able to say for sure that it never happened. It's not a stat that anyone has kept written down somewhere, that I can guarantee you.

Marek Malik has one goal this season for the NYR (he scored last week). But, he has deflected at least 7-8 pucks into his own net this whole season. He finds ways to deflect the puck in off his skate, off his stick etc. But like someone else said, own goals in hockey are not really tracked or talked about like they are in soccer.
