Ok. Playoffs are almost set. Who's the favorite to win teh Stanley Cup this year?
I have to pick the Buffalo Sabres. But I am a Buffalo native and a Sabres fan since birth. I just think they have the most solid all around team. What do you think?

Whats the greatest hockey rivalry?
I'm a non-fan (of anyone), but being obsessed with sports in general, I follow these things enough that I can give an un-biased, fairly certain opinion. The Buffalo Sabres will win the Stanley Cup in 6 games over the San Jose Sharks.Has anyone got used to the new Sabres' logo?
THRASHERS!LETS GO RANGERS!
Wouldn't this be the perfect ending for the Pens this year?
buffalo might have a tough time in the first round with having to face the 8th seed.Penguins... I had to say it, I'm a Pittsburgh fan.
But seriously, I think that Detroit has a good shot at going all the way. Plus, all those old guys need to get one more so they can retire and leave the league to the young guns.
What hockey team as a airplane logo?
they good but im going for an upset in the 1st roundWhat is your favorite College Hockey Team?
its got to be Anaheim ducks. very good all around team. i also have to say Detroit, because i'm a huge wings fan, but only if they are HEALTHY.What is wrong with the NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman?
I have to go with the Pens in the East and the Wild in the West. The Pens are becoming the complete package that can play defense as well as develop offensive chances from grinding it out, not just off odd man chances as in the beginning of the season. With the consistency they have shown over the last portion of the season along with such a deep talent pool these "kids" will be under rated and overlooked. Watch out MA Fleury in the playoffs, Pittsburgh has a history of goalies being alright in the regular season and seemingly blessed by God in the playoffs. As for the West, I have got to go with the Wild, my own feelings aside, this group has been playing nearly perfect since mid-January. They have an 11 time Stanley Cup winner behind the bench and they have the hottest player in the NHL in Marian Gaborik. He has 30 goals, seven of them game winners (clutch) and 25 assists in only 47 games. If he had played a full season he would be on track with Lecavalier and he has done it in the West, which if you ask anyone is far deeper than the East in goaltending talent, Esposito said it himself on NHL Network that other than Brodeur and possibly Miller, the East has no one is as good as Backstrom (yeah look at the stats he is the best) Luongo, Hasek, Vokoun, Kiprusoff, Nabokov, Turco, Toskala, face it is a heck of a lot harder to score in the West, four of the top five shutout leaders are from the West. The Wild are going to finish most likely in the 6th or 7th spot in the playoffs which has in recent history looked kindly on these underdog slots because of how the team is playing when they enter the playoffs. They have had to play in playoff mode for months just to make it unlike the top-seeds of the NHL who have gone onto autopilot because they are really bored with the season. When the playoffs start the Wild and the Pens will already be in playoff form the same might not be said for their opponents.
The thing to remember when trying to predict the NHL playoffs is that it is not where a team finished the season it is how they are playing when the season ends. In these low scoring games the sloppy play of a loose team will be all it takes to score one or two goals and get the win for the underdog who plays tight in their own end. Look at the teams and how they have played for the last 15 games, if they are 11-4 (Wild) they are playing slightly better than say a 8-7 (Wings) team is playing, while won was shutting out a bad team for the second time in two nights the other was losing to one of the worst teams in the NHL, just something to think about before taking the top seeds in the brackets next week.
I think that in the finals, it will be a showdown of the top 2 teams in the regular season. Dominik Hasek will face his former team. The Red Wings will need 7 games to pull it off because the Sabres are really tough. Chris Drury will be tough to stop. Ryan Miller is perhaps the best young goalie in the league right now. He will return to his home state and he may win one game there, but the Wings will take the series 4 games to 3.
How can i watch the Buffalo Sabres games online for free?
I'm a Rangers fan. If they keep playing the way they have of late, they have a chance. But they do have the occasional clunker of a game, I guess all teams do, but you can't afford them in the playoffs.I think the most likely winner is the Sabres. Penguins have a shot, so do Nashville and Minnesota. But I'd put money on Buffalo this year.
What NHL team has the most US born players on their roster?
They wouldn't SURPRISE me, but I think Ryan Miller is not --yet-- as good as 5 or 6 of the others, I am sticking with Anaheim over New Jersey due to the presence of Giguere, Pronger and Nidermeyer. Brodeur is going to be tough to beat in a 7 game series by the way.I'm from around the Anaheim area and I see it going between the Ducks and Sabres in 7 games. I do think the Sabres have an all around better team unfortuneately and could take it. Especially if either of Pronger and Niedermayer get injured.
Yes before I answer I am from Bufffalo.
Now I say Buffalo will have the best chance of winning. They take it to teams with four lines of offense, they have 6-7 quality defense men. Had it not been for injuries last year I think they would be defending their title in the next month.
They have a 42 goal scorer in Vanek. Three 30 goal scorers in Dury(37), Pominville(33), Briere(32) Afinogonev with 23, might have had 30 without missing 21 games. Then you have Kotalik,Hecht with 19 goals each.
You add those up and you have 7 guys that total 205 goals of the 303 scored this season, 2/3 of the goals scored. Show me any other team in the league that has that scoring touch with 7 guys.
Should the NHL move teams back to Canada?
Buffalo is the favorite but I wouldn't be surprised if the damn devils sneek up and win the cupAre the Washington Caps in the playoffs?
lets go rangers jagr and lundqvist got it all set upDo you think the Panthers made a good deal trading Gary ROberts to Pitt. for Noah Welch?
Buffalo indeed a top contender...they're so quick, most teams can't keep up. I think Devils will be the most overrated of the East teams. They have the experience, and Marty, but I don't see them getting far.Rangers are the dark horse this year. With their combination of talent, experience, youth, and superb goaltending, they can be tough for any team to beat in a series. When they lose, it's often because they beat themselves. If they're clicking on all cylinders...they can certainly go the distance.
Pittsburgh will be another great contender, but I'm wary on Crosby's ability to perform in the playoffs. He's a great player, but he's still young.
In the west I'll give the edge to the Ducks, but nobody in the West has run away with anything...all the top teams basically beat up on the shitty teams. It'll be fun to see what happens when they have to face each other in a 7-game series.
What Happened To Marty Broduer In The Playoffs This Year???
IF the Wings get & stay healthy...RED WINGS all the way!!!
(But I'm a Detroit Girl born & bred, sooooooooo I may be a litttle teeensy weensy bit biased [lol])
I'm for Buffalo all the way, Sabres and Anaheim is my guess.
Why is Alexander Semin not an NHL All-Star?
Whoever wins in the West. If Buffalo loses Miller they are done (what the hell were they thinking trading Biron)Fox those are hellacious upsets you picked for the cup finals. Pittsburg cannot beat Buffalo (in fact they coudn't even beat Washington).
Why are so many Canadian's(teams and players) coming to American teams?
as you can see i'm a redwing fan...but i think that the ducks or the wild will come away with it this year, i would love to see the redwings win it, but after watching there last two games i dont think they will do it, unless they get there act together, they looked pretty awful in the last two, against columbus and chicago at that...two non play off teams.hopefully they can at least clinch the west on saturday, they only need one point!!!Was that the weirdest anthem sung by Amy Grant and her husband Vince Gill?
