Question:it was nice to hear the fans in Calgary applaud the end of the game tonight, most arenas in Calgarys position would have been full of boos at the end of the game.

Calgarys fans showed a lot of class in this series. All their seats were filled at the Saddledome, and just about every single person had a jersey. They had one of loudest arenas that Ive seen. Many even admitted that what happened in game 5 wasnt right. To applaud after their team was eliminated after this type of series deserves a lot of respect.What do the following teams have in common?

calgary fans are good and have my respect but their players with the exception of kipper are players with no class at all and are low rent. i respect kipper a lot however he played his heart out and is the only reason clagary lasted as long as they did. however iginla is the dirtiest player in the league and has absolutly no class at all.Does the winner of the NHL all-star game gate home-ice advantage in the playoffs?
The fans were correct to applaud their team. Booing and applause tends to be directed at the home team in my mind. And I have to admit us wing fans have been a bit spoiled and some of us expect to win every year and when it doesn't happen they show their displeasure by booing the wings, sad, I know.Props to the Calgary fans. Love how they sing along to the Canadian National Anthem full force as well.

Definitely. It shows that they respect defeat. It was an exciting series and the fans knew that each team gave it their all. And that's what a fan of any sport wants. Calgary wasn't the soft touch everyone thought they were. And above all else their fans are hockey fans as well as Flames fans. Oh, and BTW it's not the habit of Canadians to Boo our teams or even opposing players, but of course some exceptions are made/ heard of and then it's usually only an overly vocal group of uninformed buffoons.Good luck next round Wings fans. The next team you play will be even better and certainly more physical than the Flames were.

Although I'm a flames fan, Detroit is a better team and I predicted that they would win the series even before it began. I just thought that they could be prone to the upset.Its a competitive game but once its over you have to give credit where credit is due. Hats off to the Wings, they outshot the flames by a great margin (which I also expected) and they worked harder, they deserved it. I think the fans recognized that and paid their respect.
I thought that the antics by the flames in game 5 were uncalled for, whatever the reasons, were not acceptable. I have never seen a flames team act like that.

Calgary is a great hockey town because of it's passionate fans. Even if the Flames are down and out, at least the fans understand they are an important part of the game. So to fans of teams sitting out everywhere...go Sens!!

AS a Flames Fan, I'm obviously very biased, but I do think that this city has the most passionate fans in the NHL. We, the fans, have been acting as a sixth man all season long. We encourage our boys, becuase when you come from a city and a province that produces the amount of NHL talent that we do... you expect a bit in return and you RESPECT the game.My hats off to Detroit, they played great this series and they finally shook off their early exit woes. They outplayed us pretty much every game, and they deserved the series win.
Now we have to focus on building next year.
