Are the islanders gonna make it past the thrashers?

Yes, After that performance against Washington they've showed that when they play weak teams, they kill em. Like The Wings, Ducks, Preds, Sens and Sabres do. The thrashers don't have that mentality of assists are better than goals. They did when they had Savard. Kovalchuk, Hossa, Holik and Kozlov aren't real passing guys like Savard was. The reasons why Atlanta is doing so well in the first place is because they have a hot goalie and their offense is on fire. The reason the Islanders are doing so well is because of a hot goaltender hot offense in Blake, Yashin, Zednik, Satan, Sillinger.
The Difference, the defense. The acquisition of Bergeron is amazing and bolsters the D, but the Islanders have Witt, and Poti. Both very defensive powerhouses. With the thrashers, Exelby is a goon, and De vries cant score, but the acquisition of Zhitnik will help, and Havelid needs to step up. But overall the Isles D is better.
I just see more of everything in the Islanders, and i think that they will finish ahead of the Thrashers.

the islanders will not get past atlanta...they will give them a good battle .. but to know avail. depietro has been shaky all year ,,,and with the aquisition of tkachuk..complimenting hossa...and the rest of the crew...there too tough to over come for the islanders. they are not gritty enough and dont have the killer instinct ...now mind you jasen blake and ryan smythe are a good combo...other then that who do they have for offense? weak defense and soft goaltending will get thema early trip out of the playoffs ...should they even make it..What happens to shootout goals?
if you ask me, the islanders are so iffy.sometimes they are dominate and others they suck.
no offense, they are my 2nd favoritte team.
but id say no to the thrashers..they are just too good.
