Gift for a sensei?
Question:I've been training in Aikido for the last couple of months. I've learned a lot and I'm completely hooked on it. The problem is the school is not doing real well financially and my sensi is going to have to close it down and return to the main dojo in about two months (They have an arrangement not to pay rent right now). I've actually been the only student to stick it through, with people coming and going.
Anyway, I feel I had a great opportunity here to learn with an advanced teacher, even though the school didn't catch on and I made great progress and I'm grateful for it. I definitely will continue in the martial arts and I feel I've been given a great deal here. I think I might hop dojos now for a while, to check out different styles of Aikido, and maybe get into Ju-Jitsu, and see what it is I really want to pursue.
But my question is, since my sensei was so dedicated and he took the trouble to teach me so much even though the school wasn't cutting it, I thought I might give him...

this is the 21st century
people don't drop to thier knees and "make" traditional gifts, if you do this he will smile and say thank you then either store the gift you worked so hard for in the trash or on a shelf in his house where it will collect dust until the next time he does spring cleaning when it will be then stored in the trash.
He will likely laugh at your actions with his buddies next time he goes out drinking.
the best gift for someone in his situation is to take him out and get him wasted then take him to a strip club then a regular club or bar and get him laid.
His freaking business just failed! you think he needs some pre-school arts and crafts project?
hell no he needs to be smashed and wake up with a complete strange chick in his bed, ideally with pictures of his face sandwiched between many sets of breasts that night.
wait- technically you would have made that gift with your hands since you made it happen- see tradition is good!
Have you ever Seen in person, for Real(Not on T.V.) ONE man beating 10 or more men all by himself?
i give my master money, if i don't, he takes it out of my bank account, no i didn't give him my account info, he's a master man, he moves at 72000 fpsthis is aikido right? maybe you could give him a nice katana. nothing too fancy or expensive but maybe around masahiro to paul chen.
Who would win in fight between chuck norris, jet li, jackie chan and bruce lee who would win?
Need a price range. Anything martial arts related he has or doesn't need. Anything he would want would be every specific.Choose something that is along other interests of his. I like the little LED mag lights.. simple, useful, and can make a mean weapon (in the hands of someone with training )while still being totally legal and you cant break the bulb when you hit someone with it =)
Make it symbolic, along the lines of, He has shown you the light, give him one or some such nonsense. leave it in a box with a card or something.
What does it take to develope speed and to be fast like bruce lee?
There is only a little choice here.Tradition has it that the gift be something you made
with your own two hands.
It can be art,a carving,a garment,a poem,a training tool,a paper weight, even a hard wood staff,(short or long),that you carefully sanded and rubbed in an oil finish.
This is traditional.
