Breaking boards?
where is the best place for me to find breakign boards for my black belt test. i need a large quantity (30-40 boards). they cannot be wet and hard to break. thanks for your help!

I don't mean to be rude But dude please dont tell me that you are testing for your black belt and are concerned whether the boards are wet or not. And not hard to break? What are you talking about. Go to the lumber yard ask them to cut the dimensions you need and use them regardless of what condition the come in. If you can't break them find another school. I dont mean to be rude but I was taught by my father who has maintained the traditional teachings of karate and stayed away from the sport karate of modern day. When we nreak boards we pick them up the day we are goping to use them from a lumber yard . We hold them in our finger tips with one hand(palms up) and break with the other hand. Just before the breaking hand hits the board the hand that is holding the board drops away. The board usually shaters into two or three peices because our hand dfoes not go thru the board but the forcer from our intire body does instead. I amk not bragging dude but It really bothers me when a black belt is all worried about breaking boards and tries to find some easy to break boards that have been dried out.First problem is if you are worried about it and think you might not be able to break them then you are already defeated. secondly if you are worried about it you need to question your readiness for your belt . Just my opinion man

Buy pine from the local lumber yard. Get as long a length as they sell. Usually 1"(advertised at 1" but usually 3/4") x 12' foot length by 12". Cut them in 12" pieces with a box saw or circular saw or have them cut at the lumber yard. Make sure to keep all the grain going the same direction so it will be more consistent when you're breaking them. Mark them with a small pencil line running with the grain if you can't tell after they're cut. If the wood seems wet, put them in your oven on bake at the lowest setting on your oven for an hour or two. Obviously keep an eye or nose out for smoke.Kicks above the waist or below,what do you feel is more effective? Rhetorical question.?
Then without them being hard to break, what is the representation of breaking boards? circus performance?may I suggest Balsa wood from your local hobby store

go to ur nearest home depot and get a huge slab of pine woodcut em up to the size u need
We use 1X12 white pine. You can get it at any lumber yard.

if you have to break boards to get your black belt youv'e put in a lot of time and effort in for nothing.trust me you'll never get attacked by a board. a bb is worth sh.t and if you need to break a board to think your a bb you need to seriously look at yourself and the style you do.if you want to show that you are capable of being a real bb get some one to break the 30-40 boards over your head and then clean them up?a bb is just a bit of cotton.Avatar Aang, the last airbender?
Try the lumber yard.Breaking boards should not be the goal of martial arts. It is a parlor trick.

Get styrofoam and paint it brown like wood.
