I will tell you how I did it, and you can decide if this will help you.Firstly you will have to devote time every day to stretch even if you split other training out. Secondly make sure you do some strength training across the whole body in line with the flexibility progress. Balance of training is key long term
I did this when I was 14, it may not work so well if you are much older. There are 3 main types of stretch. PNF, Dynamic/Ballistic and static/passive. The most effective is PNF followed by static followed by dynamic. Conversely the most dangerous is dynamic. I never used dynamic to make progress myself.
Pnf is simply work the muscle until it's tired, then quickly hold a static stretch for up to 30 seconds. For example, I use a gym ball for this. Hold a position where the ball is scissored between your legs as hard as you can for up to half a minute. Immediatly drop the ball and open out into any of the positions that will stretch the muscles that now ache. Do 3 sets like this.
I used this plus aerobic work in between static stretches for about half an hour a day. Took me about 6 weeks. Realistically now as an older adult you are looking for safety at between 6 months to 2 years and may not quite hit full splits. I don't quite now, though I touch the floor fine.

keeeeep stretching. some people were born to do them, some people weren't. it depends on your flexibility. :-) Good luck, but don't hurt yourself.IS SEAN SALMON THE BEST UFC FIGHTER EVEr ??
Very hard to do. Dont think possible for you to learn to do in your own living room, with just doing any old stretches. You'd need to go to a gymnsatics class. You have to be extremely supple and flexible and it would take a long while and alot of commitment and training and specialist stretching before you could actually do the splits properly. If you are going to start a gymnastics class or somthinmg like that might be a good idea to check you are in shape as well first by attending aerobics, gymnasts need to be fit! and might want to start yoga to gradually become more flexible and to make your body stronger and to improve your breathing. All in all alot of hard work for a passing fancy. Think it looks cool to do the splits to, but think il pass lol.
Who won the chuck lidell tito ortiz fight 12 30 2006?
Wow, I just stretched a lot :)Where would i find newspaper article on the Springdale Ar. Martial arts Tournament 09/09/2006.?
How long it takes depends on how flexible you are now.It does take a lot of stretching; but make sure you warm up first. Start with simple stretches, like gently leaning forward to touch the floor, hold it for about 30 secs; then slowly move your feet apart a few inches(for front splits)..then hold it again.move your body around to the left, and right; gently. Make sure you don't hold your breath.Stay relaxed. You should be able to move your feet farther apart each day. For side splits; when you can comfortably stretch with your feet more than shoulder width apart...try turning to each side with one or the other foot in front of you(with the foot of your back leg laying flat).when you put your hands on the floor, make sure you have one hand on either side of your front leg. For both kinds of splits- keep your back straight- and don't bounce.
Any beginner yoga book or class would help too.
Good luck
What is the proper way to hold a Rex Applegate Covert Folder knife for combat?
This may be depend on your age and your body inherited flexibility. If you are young, you will able to do splits in shorter time than when you are older. I do splits since I was young, so I'm not sure whether an older person can ever reach full splits. But one thing you can be sure, if you train regularly you can achieve better flexibility than before.stretch.
stretch, stretch stretch.
you could try bribing yourself with food.
Where are Japanese Martial Arts schools with Japanese instructors in Michigan?
First learn how to stretch properly. Many people who stretch to gain flexibility to do the splits put to much stress on their hips and supporting ligiments. Read up on some of Bill Wallace's articles on stretching and look into Tom Kurtz, he has an excellent program. Also check to see if your body can actually do the splits. Stand next to a table or counter the same height as your waist, put your leg out to the side foot forward and see if you can stand straight up, next to the same thing on the other side. By doing this you will see if you have any bone structure or legiments that mind prevent you from achieving full splits. Here is Kurtz's link to his website.http://www.stadion.com/column.html...
