Could you learn from a female instructor?
If you walked into a martial arts school and saw that the head instructor was a young woman would you take her seriously or would you not be able to learn under her?

Of course if she's earned her credentials, she's earned her credentials. I'm there to learn, so it would be foolish to disrespect the person who's there to impart knowledge.You might want to take the leader of the frat boys - the most disruptive one - and use him for demonstrations. Maybe "accidentally" make him hit the floor just a little harder than he might be ready for (or something else, depending on what you're teaching). I wouldn't recommend this as normal procedure, but you know - just to make a point.
I would take her seriously, then ask her out. A woman who can kick *** is so hot.

Being a women instructor can have many advantages especially when it comes to teaching children. Parents seem more reassured when they see a female teacher.
If you mean will men respect what you are teaching them. That depends on on the man. As I'm sure you are aware some men can be plonkers. One of my early instructors was a woman and she was great. Very knowledgeable and good at get the message across when teaching. You will always find some men are difficult to teach because they have ego issues or have a problem taking instructions from females.
That's there problem not yours!
Do the best you can and good students will see a good teacher.

I'm not saying i wouldn't take her seriously, but i would keep an eye on her at first. I'm a type of person that stays a skeptic about anyone until i see proof of what they can do, how they can teach, etc. Like any instructor, male or female, they would have to earn my respect as i would have to earn theirs. No one knows everything, and i know i don't. I would give her a shot and see what she had before i made a final judgement if their class was right for me.yeah, one of my instructors is a female, there are quite a few of them. they are brown to black belts.
they seem to know their stuff, but sometimes I feel like laughing (not out of disrespect) because they try to be serious so I try so hard not to laugh.

respect is a must from a person let alone a student. you always give what you expect. do not take on students for moneys sake and complain if they act in a money fashion. loyalty comes from a bonding of student teacher, without this bonding all you have is a money making project, not martial arts.Can you identify the form Jet Li is doing...?

Why are so many people stupid when it come to self defense?
Could you teach them? Are you better at the material than them? If you are, age and gender have little relevance. If they signed up for the class, they obviously should accept the instructor. Where I'm from, verbal disrespect to your instructor will get you kicked out of the school, and a physical display will earn you a quick trip to the hospital before you can bat an eye.Fancy kicking a guy in the nuts?
