Track and Field question...?

I'm just wondering about hurdles. Do people have to have long legs to run hurdles in track? I'm joining track but think that since I have well not really long legs but average, you know, that hurdles might not be the thing for me. What really are the requirements for it all?

Give me some information about the major building "birdnest" of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games?

hurdles take coordination most of all. It's all about the step pattern, speed between hurdles, the less time you spend in the air over the hurdle the better. The hurdles are just another 10 exaggerated steps of a 100M race
Look at Gail Devers she wasn't that tall and actually had short legs but ran amazingly. as long as you have some kind of coordination and like repetitive work(lots of drills and repeats in workouts) you can be a hurdler. and you do not jump hurdles you RUN & hurdle, you jump long jump, high jump.

"Hurdlers are sprinters with a problem. They're not satisfied just to sprint. Anybody can sprint, some not as well as others of course, but anybody can sprint. Hurdlers are of a persuasion that just needs an extra dimension."

What two European country's would be best to hold the summer Olympics?

I'm sure long legs help, i.e., you wouldn't want a really short person doing tall hurdles, but I don't think there is a strict requirement. Really, it's all about the technique. I could never do it, I always "jumped"... you're supposed to go straight over without jumping really. Good luck!

When was curling entered into the Olympics?

There are really no requirements. I'm 5'3 with short legs and I jumped hurdles in school. The only thing that you have to do is jump the hurdle in a way that neither one of your feet hit the hurdle. So just practice a whole lot because practice makes perfect.

Nice avatar!

Is anybody that's reading this ever competed at the Olympics or been close to making the team?

Yes, if you are at a high school or junior high level or just curious go for it and have fun. A slender build with long legs is needed to be competitive at the highest levels.

If you are experimenting with different sports have fun and don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do!

What is the best way to run the 200m-dash?

Hurdles require speed and form i'm 5'2 and I am great at the hurdles go for it. If you want to do hurdles it takes lots of practice.
