a lot of work.. i cant do middle splits well any more.. but in gymnastics when i was competeing.. they would take two mats about 1 foot tall on each side and foot my legs on the mats and push my flat on the floor..--very painful for the first month or so... once i got comfortable they just made it higher...but im starting to do that again.. i love the flexabliity but i quit gymnastics..so just keep gradulayy stretching more and more..
it will hurt but do it anyways

simple just do it with 2 mats and warm up beforeFlexibiltity comes with time. To get your left and right splits, work on lunges, with one knee on the ground and the other foot infront of you. push your hips to the ground so you are streatching your hips. Then straighten your front leg and try to touch your nose to your knee. Slide your front foot out until you are as far in your spilts as you can go and breate. Hold each of these positions for 30 seconds or more on each leg on a routine basis. Flexibility takes alot of practice, but if you work at it you can do it! Do not over stretch! you could be come seriously injured, just gradualy go farther down so that you feel the stretch, eventually you will be all the way. I know oyu dont want to hear this, but you cant get your spilts in a day. (unless you start really close to having them!) For your middles, practice a straddle sit, or "Froggies" which is a middle split where your knees are on the ground and your legs are bent at a 90 dergree angle. Dont forget to breathe to help your muscles relax! You just have to work on it.
