Question:The Winter Olympics are held to celebrate and highlight sports that used to be only performed during the winter.
Are todays athletes so prima doma and so used to pratising indoors that they fear a real winter therefore a real winter event?
Answers:
Who is the fast runner?
Yes, it may sound odd but today's Women's Super Giant Slalom was indeed cancelled due to blizzards and high winds and while it sounds bizarre there is a very good reason (namely the same reason behind the delay in the Women's Combined Downhill when a Croatian who was first down the mountain crashed when a gust of wind caught her off balance as she cleared a jump)
Has anyone ever attended the FlipFest summer gymnastics camp?
Some Winter Olympics events no longer resemble real skiing. For example the downhill events are rediculously fast and dangerous on specially prepared icy surfaces. Rather then being prima donners the participants are risking more injury then in previous years due to the increased speeds. This also means you cannot run these events with poor visibility or gusty winds as the athletes are constantly pushing it to the limit by the slope preparation and time requirements. It would be mayhem to attempt those speeds on a bad day.
