The US has hosted 4 Winter Olympics. The first one was way back in 1932 (Lake Placid), followed by Squaw Valley (1960), then Lake Placid again in 1980 and most recently Salt Lake City in 2002. It would have been 5, but the residents of Denver said "NO" to a ballot measure enabling funds to be raised for the 1976 Winter Olympics and so it went to Innsbruck.
