Answers:
You don't jump at all when doing cartwheels.
M'kay, here it goes.
Cartwheels.
Start in a lunge.
(With whatever hand you right with or you prefer, but lets use the right hand)Reach forward with that arm, kick up with the opposite leg (which would be left in this case). Other hand should follow right after that, quickly, touching the ground, and then your right leg should come up too. You should be in a straddle handstand. Then, land the same way you came, your legs will be falling back into place, only on the opposite side of where you started. Probably sounds complicated but once you do the steps all together it won't seem like that and it moves very quickly. Think hand, hand, foot, foot. You can use tape on the ground to guide you.
Round-offs.
Start running.
Go in as if you are doing a cartwheel.
Move your leading leg first, then kick over the back leg. Hands follow each other, the only thing different is your legs should be together in the air, not apart.
You land with your legs together as well.
Is there a non college track and field team ?
Throw your hands on the ground, throw your feet up in the air, spin in a wheel fashion, land on your feet again. Sounds like a wheel to me, take your body in a circle like a wheel. Good Luck! You have several options in beginning a cartwheel. Normally you learn starting in a lunge position. Make sure when your second hand touches the floor that the fingers of that hand are pointed toward the thumb of the first hand. Typical cartwheel mats with handprints are wrong on this point. You can also do running or power hurtle cartwheels. Although usually a cartwheel is just a stepping stone to the round-off where running or power hurtles are the likely options. The difference in cartwheels and round-offs have nothing to do with how you start but in the round-off you bring your feet together in the air and snap them down to the floor together quickly. The cartwheel lands one foot followed by the other landing in the lunge position.
