Olympic Games a Waste?
I've just heard that the Olympic games will cost around 5 billion pounds, I think the money should be spent elsewhere like the crippled health service or housing, we are idiots for volunteering for this complete waste of money, what do you think??

What is the record for the highest jumper in the high jump?
The Games themselves may not be a waste but the pointless tedious cermonies at the beginning and the end are certainly no use to anyone and should be scrapped in favour of a simple parade of all the competitors. The construction of new arenas and stadia etc should be justified solely on the basis of the benefit to the local community AFTER the Games.
Personally I think that one venue should be selected and used for every Olympics ... such as a Greek Island. This will stop all the political squabbling and millions of dollars wasted in competing for the right to host the Games which would be much better spent on just about anything else.
What is the fastest 40 ever runed?
I think they aren't a waste they attract thousands of people to a country to watch the greatest athletes. Tourism boomes in that country and they get back way more than that in ticket sales and tourism. Plus sometimes people need to lay back and have pointless fun.Did you bother to read how many people will be employed thanks to the Olympic games? How much money the Olympics will generate, how much capital the host city/country will experience from Olympic based tourism?
I think the royal family is a waste of money. Liquidate everything having to do with the royal family and fix health care & housing.
No Man nothing more i look forward too then the winter/summer games
30 people in a race 3 drop out 2 faint a 1 more left how is that?
Historically, hosting the Olympics has brought in enough revenue to far outweigh the upfront cost to make preparations, etc. Also, tourism is increased for some time after the games are over. I think Greece and Atlanta are both good examples of cities that greatly benefited by hosting the Olympics in terms of better quality of life for the residences in the years that follow.Could someone tell me what Bode Miller did during the olympics?
A total waste of money. Rather like the "Millenium Dome".Between which years did Arthur Mail held the record for the fastest 100 mile run in Britain?
All recent Olympic Games since 1988 have made net profits. TV rights + mega-corporation sponsors + venue tickets + venue advertising + daily spendings of tens of thousands of visitors + fully booked hotels more than make up for the spendings. It has been so in Seul, Barcelona, Atlanta, Athens and Sydney.More Questions & Answers...
