The Montreal games of 1976 are the most expensive Games ever organised.Yes, basically the construction costs for the 1976 Games were killers. The television money hadn't quite mushroomed at that point, so it was tough to make it all balance. I would guess some problems with the Canadian dollar probably didn't help matters, as the value of the currency dropped around that time, as I recall.
