How do you get on the Olympics Commitee?
I've never quite been able to get a handle on the term "African-American". Either you are African, or you are American. Then of course, if you are African you could be Egyptian, Libyan, Sudanese, Kenyan, etc. So by all rights you could be Egyptian-American, maybe, but still this does not work for me, because you are either Egyptian or you are American... possibly with dual citizenship, but I just don't know... I really don't.Would someone from Sudan who lives in Egypt be called a Sudanese-Egyptian? I don't think so. And what would you call a Nigerian black living in Nigeria? An African-Nigerian or an African-American-Nigerian? This is utterly stupid. I don't think Africans living in Africa call themselves African-Americans, nor do I think they call themselves African-Africans. "African-American" is an idiotic term.
What you want to say is who was the first black American track hurdler. Africa has nothing to do with it, unless you mean an African in America, and even then it would be just plain "African". And what if you wanted to know who the first WHITE American track hurdler was? What then? Would you say "Who was the first American-American track hurdler?"
This is all totally bullshitt.
I don't know about records, but the first one to be famous was Harrison Dillard, who won the Olympics in the 100meters and the 110 meter hurdles.
