What the f**ks up with thatFirst of all it is not the "Gay Olympics" because that name can't be used. It is referred to as the Gay Games. And here is a statement from them:
"The purpose of the Federation of Gay Games is to foster and augment the self-respect of lesbians and gay men throughout the world and to engender respect and understanding from the nongay world, primarily through an organized international participatory athletic and cultural event held every four years, and commonly known as the Gay Games."
All of you should get over it. I personally could care less being a gay male that this competition takes place. Whoever wants to organize an event like this has the free will to do so. If you have the urge to gasp in disbelief that is your choice. It has nothing to do with the gay community trying to seperate itself from the rest of the world. It's just something that gay athletes wanted to do for themselves! Give it a break!
